ANNOUNCEMENT: New affiliate and content management software

After about a year of evolution, my content management and affiliate software is just about ready to go! I'm really proud of this and a ton of work has been poured into it. It should be ready for full release mid-February. Here's a brief rundown of the features:

<ul>
<li>A template based <b>content management system</b>, with automatic updates, automated thumbnailing and watermarks, video previews, and much more.</li>
<li>A powerful <b>exit console management system</b>, sponsor click statistics, <b>geo-targetting</b>, and the ability to modify exits across multiple sites at the click of a button.</li>
<li>Full <b>user management</b>, including proxy blocking, password hacking protection, and more in a <b>custom Apache module</b> for speed and reliability.</li>
<li>Powerful <b>sales reporting</b>, graphing, and statisics.</li>
<li><b>Cascading billing</b> and a full <b>affiliate system</b> designed to easily integrate with your existing sites.</li>
<li>...and much, much more. <a href="http://www.speira.com/products.php">Click here</a> for a complete tour.</li>
</ul>

Looks intresting..good luck with it

BrettJ 01-02-2004 10:15 PM

Just stopping by to show my love. I've already pre-paid for the software. have played around with it a little bit and am stoked about using it on DormBucks after a little beta testing, of course.

PerfectionGirls 01-02-2004 10:20 PM

And now you know why he is employed by Perfection Girls!

We have been running most of this system for a couple months and its incredible! Easy to use and very functional.

We will be running the rest of the program as soon as we get back from the show. The Cascading billing program puts every other program out there to shame.

Awesome job Fletcher! Now I know why you have been staying up all night.

:thumbsup

SCOOTER 01-02-2004 10:24 PM

Thanks for the comments guys. I know there are other options out there like MPA2, but I wanted to create something for everyone. I think this will let smaller program owners get in on some powerul software that might not otherwise make financial sense, as well as provide a powerful backend to larger programs.

Also, I don't know of anything else that tackles affiliate, content, and other features such as extremely powerful exit management all in one package.

Even if you're not sure if you like it or if it's right for you, grab a business card from me at Internext and if you ever order - knock 25% off the price.

Wow! I had to say that again, I check out your pricing and feature set. Good value. Do you support Sponsor Hosted Galleries? Sponsor Hosted TGPs? SubID systems for Affiliates? BYOTs?

If you are referring to sub-ids as tracking codes, then yes...that will be implemented. If I have time before the final release, I have no problem implementing the other features you're talking about. We'll also be giving free upgrades, so whenever we add new modules and processors you get them free.

EDIT: Also, basic features like that could easily be added within the 5 or 10 free hours of customization.

xanx 01-02-2004 11:11 PM

looks good :thumbsup

fuzebox 01-02-2004 11:14 PM

Wow, looks great! :thumbsup

The pricing page looks pretty good too... (Time to start coding, look for my content/affiliate management package next summer :D )

$5 submissions 01-02-2004 11:15 PM

The BYOT support is what I'm hankering for, cuz it really helps webmasters get a range of graphic/text layouts that best harnesses their traffic's conversion potential. Every stream of traffic is different...might as well have a system that recognizes and profits from it.

looks tight

TonyL 01-02-2004 11:22 PM

Few Questions:

1. What language is the program written in?
2. Do we receive the source code if we purchase?
3. What database?
4. What kind of traffic load can it take (affiliate system)?
5. Can it work with merchant account gateway systems?

Tony, hit me up on ICQ if you want more details...but to answer your basic questions:

The interface is written in PHP (with caching), there is a custom Apache module written in C that performs some functions. Additional certains tasks (such as the mailing) are handled by C/C++ programs for speed. Another version is already in the works of using a persistent client/server model in C++ for even more speed, which will be version 3.

As far as traffic numbers, I can give you ballpark figures and what we currently have tested it to if you want to contact me. As far as source code, with the purchased version we will include the code in an un-encoded package.

The default database is MySQL, but with the included customization time it could easily be ported to PostgreSQL, Oracle, or any other standard SQL server you use. Again, feel free to ICQ me with any technical questions.

Does it handle videos?

Yes. WMV, MPG, AVIs, and nearly all other video formats are all thumbnailed fine. You can also select the frame number to generate a custom thumbnail.

It's listed on the website, there are several pricing options for various program sizes.

I don't mean to be rude, but if paying $349 a month and a $495 setup is too much for a 3-site program, then someone needs to do some financial evaluations. :2 cents:

The purchase option is there for people who are looking for an all-inclusive package. I feel the price-to-feature ratio is very, very good and have gotten good feedback thus far.

It looks very complete. Any existing programs use this? How robust is their implementation?

I'd love to see this with BYOT functionality.

sweandy 01-03-2004 03:36 AM

Looks very hot!

Put it on my wishlist :)

Libertine 01-03-2004 03:42 AM

Definately on the list of to-do items. Adding additional processors is fairly easy. Free additions such as this should be available shortly after release. Anyone else with any recommendations fire away.

I don't want to go into too much detail, but right now it watches proxies, abnormalities in conversions on a per-affiliate level, and obviously uses each processors individual fraud control.

SGS 01-03-2004 11:58 AM

Looks very impressive and look forward to following up when the product rolls out.

Yes, that can be easily done. I will contact netbilling for their reference documentation. If there is enough time, it will be incorporated into the first release. If not, I will release a Netbilling module shortly thereafter free of charge.

There is a good deal of action going on in regards to tracking, etc. On a single machine configuration for sites getting a large amount of traffic - I would probably recommend a P4 configuration with 1GB or more of RAM. For smaller traffic sites, any standard webserver will work. The architecture lends itself to the ability to spread the tracking over multiple machines if needed, but again, this has yet to be thouroughly tested. Join pages and other external scripts will function fine on additional boxes. The hardware requirements - just like any webserver - will vary widely based on your traffic.

Software wise, it has been tested on Linux. MySQL 3.23.x or newer and PHP 4.3.x or newer is required. The rest of the bits are standard C. It should have no issues with BSD or any other platform, although it hasn't been tested on those yet.
