So I don't imagine I'll get much sympathy here, as I am that hotlinking motherfucker who owns Fusker!. But bear with me a moment and maybe even give me your opinion about this, as this seems to be the best BB to ask:

What we would like to do at fusker.com, starting as soon as possible is

1. Offer more options for webmasters to easily allow/disallow hotlinking/direct download linking.
2. Offer those who do allow such linking benefits.

What I most want to know is under what conditions would you be willing to have your content hotlinked (or allow direct links to movie downloads) -- what would you want to get in return?

Here is what we were planning:
1. Use the extract.xml standard to let webmasters control if and how they would permit hotlinking. (see http://extractxml.sourceforge.net, unfortunately hosted by those imbecile geeks at sourceforge -- you might have to reload each page a couple times)
2. Link all images shown at Fusker! to the url indicated in the extract.xml file
3. Give fuskered webmasters a special zone that appears when their content is shown. This zone would provide a description of their content, copyright info, a link to their site, and a place where they could put advertising for anything they wanted (including affiliate cash links).
4. Create an easy to use form at fusker.com so webmasters could fill out their preferences to get a personalized extract.xml file ready to upload to their site.

Any thoughts?

One more thing... and maybe this should go in another post, but wtf....

A significant number of our fuskers are links to movie samples. What would be really cool is to offer for sale the full movie every time we link to the samples, and let people buy it directly for a couple bucks. That would mean some kind of affiliate arrangement with people who might want to sell full-length movies one by one. Does anyone out there know how to set that up. What I don't want to do is set up a seperate thing with every site selling milf, backdoor or feature lenght porn vids.

no one will go along - why, cause the traffic that visits your site isn't what I call "premium" traffic - they are looking for free shit, you are ripping the content from the page we already have, which im sure advertising is on that page..

Ok, I'm going to a 180 here, even though I commented in an earlier post about my efforts to shut the originator down (which was true).

I own my own paysite and pay for it's bandwidth in its entirety. When I first saw fusker.com pulling my pics, I was pissed (again)!!

But then I started giving this more thought. If my images are branded (which they are), then isn't this similar to a tgp or picpost?

People are seeing my pics, their quality, style and getting a generalized feel for the type of content I host. I started to question if this was not a third avenue of advertising, albeit without the convenient links to click on automatically.

For me personally, I now view fusker as a possible advertising mechanism. I only wish I could better determine how much traffic to my website and sales I make through it.

I'm not sure there are possible conditions, cos I'm sure you cant legally hotlink images/videos without a permission/license of the owner of the copyrights.
