Anyone else landing on Mars tomorrow?
Spirit lands tomorrow at 11:35 EST.
NASA gave every American the opportunity to place their names onto a DVD attached to the two landers. I have mine and my son's. About 3 1/2 Million people are on the DVD's. The second lander Opportunity lands on January 24. That one has a backup DVD in case the first lander doesn't make it. Mission Info: http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/home/index.html You can see Mars coming into view from the camera on Spirit on this link. http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/missi...trightnow.html Here's a pic of the DVD with everyone's names on it placed onto the rover. http://spacekids.hq.nasa.gov/2003/countdown.cfm Pretty cool feeling, never been on Mars before. :1orglaugh http://spacekids.hq.nasa.gov/2003/dvd_1.jpg |
