does the weather / season affect your mood?

i live in northeastern ohio, known for its seemingly constant overcast from the great lakes... which is the reason of our high suicide rate... summer comes, for the few months of nice weather life seems better... but during late fall, all winter, and early spring, things just seem so dampened and depressing.

i need to get out of here!

It totally affects me. In the winter I am prone to sleeping a lot more, and feeling tired.

Definately... Lots of rain gets me down.

Ironic, as I live in Vancouver.

this is defintely true, and it can help. but for me it also helped just the fact that it REALLY was nice outside during the winter and i could do most of the same things i do in the winter that i do in the summer.

it's like i've tricked my brain into thinking there is no more winter and most of my depression is gone. though i still have the ocassional bad days...but i guess i always will.

it's a real illness, called S.A.D. - Seasonal Affective Disorder. Some people get clinically depressed in winter because of the lack of sunlight - which is different than just being grumpy cuz it's cold and gray. One of the treatments is getting a UV light box thing and sitting in front of it a couple hours a day.

I've been feeling really depressed since the beginning of December and I don't know why! Almost everything is going good, so I have no reason to be depressed, I just am. It's never happened to me before... maybe I better start getting out during the day instead of sleeping in 'til 2:00 pm, lol.
