Spammers not following California law?

I notice spam coming into one of my inboxes (shit email, gets like 400 a day) are still clean of any of the "ADV" California requires in the subject line.

Does this only apply to spammers mailing TO CA residents, or spammers residing in CA?

It got superceded by Federal law. CAN SPAM law.

Had the law taken effect it would apply both to spammers residing in CA and/or people being spammed in CA

Ok that makes more sense now. Thanks :)

Yeah they quietly did away with the 120 day grace period to the Can-Spam law & made its actual effective date the first.

The marketing association guys called in their favors again in order to avoid any problems with California.

true.... until they end up in Chinese prisons.

Not a nice place to be in. No parole. Hard labor. Plus if you die, your organs get 'harvested'

Vitasoy 01-02-2004 01:39 PM

they'll spam anyways, law or no law.

If your reffering to the CAN-SPAM law the "Tag System" hasnt been implemented yet which means you dont have to specify "ADV, PORN" etc.

I don't think it will work... but time will tell

SiMpLe 01-02-2004 03:30 PM

I get just as much spam as I ever did - the law is bs thus far imo

Kimmykim 01-02-2004 03:32 PM

Going to be nearly impossible to get nonUS folks compliant with US laws anyway.

Delete key works really well I think.

Brad Xtremepay 01-02-2004 03:33 PM

That's what I have always said too, Kimmy.

Me too, very simple to check mark some boxes and hit the delete button. If you have problems doing so you are a dyslexic mongloid.

Oh thank god... there ARE more people out there that agree with me. I thought I was on my own.
