SE Question

I am just wondering if SE (particularly Google) differentiate whether the title of my site is 'MySite.com - My Keyword' or simply 'My Keyword'? Should I keep it simply my keyword, or will either way do equally as good? Thanks.

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking but by the wording you're asking if having a title of "Mysite.com - My Keyword" will index you differently then "My Keyword".

I would say that it does have some effect although its hard to predict. Obviously if there's something like 100,000+ results for MyKeyword, you want the best chance to be on top. Most SE's do factor the weighting of tags. So having the title as just MyKeyword will make the weighting for the title tag at 100% versus "MySite.com - MyKeyword". But remember the title tag is not the only factor, you need to remember about headers (h1, h2, etc...) and anchor text linking to your page. These factors combined will make the major difference.

Weighting the title with BLAH.COM is pointless unless you
are searching specifically for "BLAH+.COM".

Thanks alot for your help. I know (as do most people now days) about linking, and headings, but I just wasn't sure if the stated would affect ranking. What you say makes sense though, as a title with 'Keyword1 Keyword2 Keyword3 Keyword4' would surely be less effective (on any particular rank) than one with a single keyword. Anyway, I have read your posts in the past, and have picked up some nice, small amounts of info - so thanks again!

it is not a bad idea to get some unique factors into your title after florida!

I read this on scroogle, and since haven't been totally sure. But I guess really your site name wouldn't necessarily count for a unique factor?
