I did New Year's 98/99 in Vienna.

99/2000 in Amsterdam. That was fucking crazy...

I was in Israel for 2000 also, but I was in some kibbutz in the middle of nowhere.

I did Time's Square for the Millenium celebration 99/00. Got there around 2:30 PM and had to find my spot in the street at 3pm and could not leave. Froze my ass off in the same spot for 9 hours.

Castro Street (San Francisco) 2000. I remember the corner bar and watching ppl walk by as the kind bartendar kept our glasses full free of charge. We talked for hours and enjoyed the dancing in the streets and happiness.

Wasn't new years, but was for fireworks.. i scaled a 150M tall crane to get a birds eye view.. :thumbsup

That was kinda the problem in Amsterdam. A few hundred thousand people in and around the dam, with almost no bathroom facilities, and no way to move around because of the sea of people. It was still a trip though... :)

I've done it a few times as I used to live in NY (upstate), but that time in 1978 was special as I was living in Montreal and it was my first road trip (I was 14) with a buddy and we had a crazy wild time down there.

I've had to pee in a cup a few times because of the crowd and no where to move. Its not an easy process with people standing inches away in all directions.

One of the best New Years I had was in New York City on a College trip: we couldn't get in to Times Square so we walked around drinking in the streets for hours, then went back to the Hotel and brought in Midnight at the Irish Pub, was definately one of the best celebrations I've had.:GFYBand
