Go to travelworm.com. If I remember correctly, Palace Station is only $15 per night. Its a decent Hotel on the strip. Its not in old town.

Vegas has some cheap ass hotels on the strip. Places like Circus Circus. Under $50 a night. I'm not sure what you consider expensive.
