Many Americans have become pussies.

3000 people died so millions are willing to give up all their rights so they can feel a little safer? I doubt those who died in the World Trade Center would want their legacy to be that it scared other Americans so much that they gave away everything America was supposed to stand for in the following years.

It's pathetic.

"They that would give up essential liberty for a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
- Benjamin Franklin

The novel "1984" was already well on its way to becoming reality when Orwell wrote it in 1948. It's been marginalized since. Even that piece of trash reality show "Big Brother" (which I watch, I'm sorry to confess) doesn't "get" what it's supposedly based on. At all. And neither does anyone who makes modern-day comparisons, IMO. It's done, LONG since done. We can now only hope for a Brave New World.

I loved that book. I think that we see a lot of double think and group think in our politics these days.

ever read Animal Farm by Orwell ?

All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.

A proclamation by the pigs who control the government in the novel Animal Farm, by George Orwell. The sentence is a comment on the hypocrisy of governments that proclaim the absolute equality of their citizens but give power and privileges to a small elite.
