Hunt for American suspected of killing British cop heating up big time

been the big story over here for the past couple days. They have now sealed off York Train station and suggesting he is on a train going out or into it..this is as close to the Fugitive as it gets in the UK.

Background

I hope they hang him.

Platinum Doug 12-30-2003 01:51 PM

Your cops don't get to carry guns, do they?

Sarah_Jayne 12-30-2003 01:56 PM

not usually but then they don't usually get killed either

Some do, not patrolmen but they have shotgun cars and shit I think. I'm sure the ones going after this guy are armed.

They will be -

When ever there is a chance of someone using firearms, the law have a unit to deal with it -

Otherwise, no Police carry guns - And it is very rarely when a policeman in the uk gets killed - Average is around 2 a year.

It happened only 3 miles from me.

Most police cars now have guns, but unless you are in a problem place, police would not bother.

The part of Leeds it hapened in is quiet, not where real crime happens.

I can only think the guy has mental problems or was on drugs, as all he got stoped for was a stolen car, and as it was his firtst offence, he would have not gone to prison.

So i suspect he was not in a mental state of mind.

I'm also curious as to what his immigration status is because I am sort of here for the same reasons as he is - being married to a Brit. The years he has been here keeps changing when I hear it but if they got divorced really early into his marriage he may have problems with staying her legally..especially if they didn't do the paperwork.

Then maybe he is here because he has some sort of family connection such as a British parent but there is a reason he didn't want to be stopped by the police.

what did the cop do to get shot?

sometimes, some cops deserve a bullet.

i know some crooked cops that like to hassle people like me, and i cannot care less if they take a bullet or not.

there are cops EVERYWHERE in this world that are crooked and currupt and should be put down.

Can't we all just get along?

You've never had a cop let you know what his hood tastes like? heheh

I have, some cops deserve what they get.

May not be so in this case, but just because someone is a cop doesnt make them good.

heh

;)

In this case the cop was just doing his job and paid a heavy price. The other 2 were pretty damn lucky, especially the cop who took a bullet in his radio set, the gunman was looking kill all 3. It seems a bit weird though that they didn't pat him down before putting him in the patrol car.

why is it people feel so sorry for cops who die?

im not saying shit about this guy or whoever died, but seriously, innocent people die everysday but if a fucking pig takes one 'oh no the fucking world better mourn.'

whens the last time you folks gave a fuck when a volunteer fireman died? or anything like that.

someone dies in a war, you barely know their name, but a cop takes a bullet and its the biggest news ever.

why dont you all take the time to scroll through the names of the dead iraqis or the soldiers, an 18 year old kid from California died in iraq yesterday, and no one posted about it? heres a place to start:

http://www.lacrossetribune.com/artic...ws/03pilot.txt

sad fucking world.

people - any people - do not get shot and killed in the UK everyday. So, had it been just an average joe there would be a big deal about it too. Six months ago or so there was a big shooting of a kid and a father in the street in London and it was a way bigger deal than this in the media.

big deal.

people die in my country every day.

as i said, scroll through the names of the dead soldiers in iraq or any other innocents who die.

heres a good quote from the article i linked which you probably wont even read.

'"Yesterday, I flew my first dead soldier out of Iraq," Parker wrote Dec. 20 in an e-mail to his mother. "I don't know his exact age, but I'm sure he was just a kid."

It was one of his first missions.

The young private died three days earlier when an improvised roadside bomb exploded beneath the Humvee he was driving in a convoy in northern Iraq, he said.

"There was no ceremony when the Army delivered his body to our C-130," Parker wrote. "He was in a body bag, strapped to a (stretcher), which was on the back of an open Humvee."

kids dying is more important than a cop.

Sarah_Jayne 12-30-2003 04:17 PM

well, I don't have any hostility towards the police - nor the soldiers who similarly signed up to do a dangerous job but it is still a story and as the story is based in the UK that is why the rarity of the events is relevant. Oh, and British soldiers die too.
