for paysite owners - do you give your members full length videos as well as clips? do more guys watch the clips or the full length vids?

how many sizes of clips do you offer, and in what formats? we're doing wmv and mpg in two sizes currently.

break it down into 5 minute clips, it saves on bandwitdh, and some members hate to download the whole video.

I have a full length clip and also split that up into 3-5 minute clips

and then render all of the above into 3 different speeds/size wmv's

500KBS for fast dsl/cable/
250KBS for slower dsl
and a 15fps for the dialups

i already have two sizes up in wmv and mgp. i am wondering whether to add full length or 15 minute clips as well.

we cut the movies in 5 or 10 mb per movie, depend on howmuch mb the movie is total.

anyone else? what lengths (or sizes) of vids do you offer, and which are watched the most?

we offer 10mb clips in MPEG and then full length in WMV.

we offer 1 min clips ( for the dial up crowd )
and full length
mpg format

well, that's what i think, but i still wonder if there are more members watching clips or full length vids... i'm wondering which is preferred.

I don't know the answer to that off hand, but instinctively, I'd say that it's probaly about 50/50.

We encode our clips (3 - 5 min) in quicktime. The full length version is encoded in WMV. After a couple months we release the full length in mpeg so it can be downloaded.

As far as my customers told me, it's a real good seller for memberships if you have full length videos of 90 minutes available.

We cut all clips. Main reason is protecting from teleport and all the same sheet . :ak47:

We either offer the whole movie, which can be anything from 20 to 40 minutes long, or cut it into 10 minute clips.
Our format is wmv and is in multiple formats 1500, 1000 and 300 Kbps as a download and 300 and 100 Kbps for streaming . We are catering for the broadband user who is seeking downloadable content. Therefore they tend to use the streaming to get an idea of the movie before downloading the whole movie in its largest format.

Some of our exclusive content is protected with DRM, but this has been a headache since its inception !!!!!!!

Why has DRM been such a headache?

We have been using a wmv DRM solution but it does not work on all Media Players. It only works with Media Player 9. Error messages appear at the members end after the download and rather than checking our FAQ page for advice, they email support. And when you have the number of members we have, it becomes a "headache" :mad:

Windows Media Player on the Mac isn't supported either !!!!
