That says nothing about why they have been down.

Stallion 12-30-2003 07:33 AM

They are moving the servers to Atlanta to the Natnet Noc Center.

They have been rock solid thusfar, but I didn't know about this downage personally.. That's fine as long as things come back up asap.

Stallion 12-30-2003 07:39 AM

Yeah it should be back up anytime. From what I heard they chartered a plain to fly all the servers from Mach10 to Atlanta early this morning.

If they are moving servers....seems like they would have notified their customers first.

I guess they are natnet customers now.

RodeoCowboy 12-30-2003 07:44 AM

The message below was emailed at 16:42 EDT yesterday to mach10hosting customers.

"Dear Mach10 Hosting customer,

Important information about your account is enclosed below, so please be sure to read this message in it\'s entirety.

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Bill VanVorst and I am the Executive Vice President in charge of Operations for NationalNet. As you now already know, Mach10 Hosting has merged with NationalNet. As you also already know, we have chartered a private cargo jet and will be moving the servers to our data center Tuesday morning December 30.

The servers should arrive at our data center at around 8 AM Tuesday morning, and I have everyone on my staff poised and ready to get them racked up and working. We anticipate being done not much later than early afternoon, with most servers being up and working way before that. This will be the fourth merger we have done this year and do not anticipate any issues.

In order to deal with your support issues, we will have a full compliment of staff on our phones and manning our work order system. Instructions on using our support systems is included below. Once all servers are back online, I will send out an email to all of you so that you can ensure that all is okay. While we understand that all of you will be eager to get back online, we do ask that you wait until receiving this email before contacting us, unless you feel it is an emergency and is something unrelated to the move. This will allow us to focus on getting the servers online as quickly as possible for you"

Unfortunately, I didn't read until this morning so I had no notice of the move. Giving such short notice of such a move and anticipated long downtime is not a good sign and makes me wary of NationalNet's ability to provide good support. Do they really care about the customers they are acquiring. Too bad because mach10hosting was a really good host with outstanding support. Not good so far with NationalNet.

If you were a customer not sure why you didn't receive a notice, Sean sent out letters to customers 2 hours before it was announced anywhere, that was around noon eastern yesterday.

Don't cha think 2 hours is a little short notice??
I never had a problem with Mach10..but I'd have liked to have a tad bit more lead time so I could at least email my submitters and trade partners and I didnt see it till late last night and by that time the sites were down

Toolz 12-30-2003 08:12 AM

Well yeah 2 hours is short notice, however when you're dealing with NDA's and business transactions you usually don't tell the public before the deal is signed what's happening. I can see this was a simple timing issue, get the deal signed and servers moved by Jan 1st and not have to renew contracts, etc.

Man oh man

RodeoCowboy,

We have been with National Net for a few years now and moved some of our business to Mach10 two years ago. Both companies are top notch.

We are all loosing money with the downtime while they move the server cross country however I am hoping all will be back up within the next 2-3 hours.

Hi Guys. Mach10hosting.com is back up but none of my domains are (nor is my email). Anybody else have their domains back up?

Our email is on the server so we haven't had any updates as to how the move is going.

RodeoCowboy 12-30-2003 12:45 PM

Mach10hosting.com is not back up where I am. Its been more than 14 hours of downtime and still counting. This really sucks!!!

Shap 12-30-2003 12:49 PM

You are right. It's down again. I checked 5 minutes ago and my bandwidth charts were up but down again.

I'm sure natnet is doing their best. I know I sure as hell would not want to be moving servers across the country two days before new years. I'd be happy if they came back up before this evening.

GonePhishing 12-30-2003 12:50 PM

Any new news on estimated time to have it all back up. We are dying!

lEricPl 12-30-2003 12:55 PM

Wow

That is some serious revenue lost.

rebel23 12-30-2003 01:21 PM
