President Bush is the most admired

man in America...and Senator Clinton is the most admired woman in America...as reported by a magazine...as reported by the news. I did not catch the name of the magazine...does anyone know which magazine is reporting this?

DarkBob 12-30-2003 07:08 AM

I believe it was a CNN-USA Today-Gallup poll

Extremely...

I always wonder who gets polled... or if they are fixed. I mean everyone I talk to on the street... friends, family what ever all hate him.

Do they only count the people that like these people?

Roger 12-30-2003 08:51 AM

he was picked by 29% of those polled. There sure are lots of ignorant people. How come I never get polled?

In scientific polls...a cross selection of people...based upon a variety of factors...are included in the poll. I am American and you are not...thus I do not know anyone that hates the President...though I know many that do not agree with all of his decisions...and/or politics...as is my thinking.

Polls can be rigged so easily it's joke. They pick the right area they will get the right answer.

You must live in a very small world or your definition of the word hate is maybe extreme. To know no one who dislikes any current leader of any FREE country is virtually impossible.

But it's stange who came top in the poll. A man who sent thousands to die on the slimmest of reasons and a woman who stood by while her husband screwed around, so she could be/remain first lady. When she found out he was getting blow jobs from interns did she walk out?

Maybe morals and ethics are not strong points in the US or at least where they do the polls.

Gallup has a very good reputation as a pollster...but lesser poll taking orgs do not always carry reputable credentials...and non scienticfic polls have very little meaning.

I know what the meaning of the word "hate" is and I did not say that I do not know anyone that "dislikes" President Bush...but for the majority...their dislike is based upon the Presidents policies and not the man.

"Morals/ethics" are not global...but are subjective.

Yeah, people say that a lot, usually when the poll results show that their opinion is in the minority.

He's a pretty good president. He's already accomplished more in one term than Clinton did in two.

You mean in the US, Clinton keeping quiet so she could stay as First Lady and leave him when she left office and killing thousands of innocent people are no immoral or unethical, thank you for your wise words.

Yes he has accomplished a lot, the dollars drop, the defecit grew and he got richer. Quite an accomplishment.

Let's face it if Bush jnr is the best the US can do out of the millions who live there it's a very sorry state of affairs.

The problem is Americans might vote for him again just because of the lack of a credible alternative.

basschick 12-30-2003 01:56 PM

paul, we don't really know for sure why ms clinton stayed with her husband. for some reason, in the u.s. women are seen as good people if they stay with their cheating spouses. those women see THEMSELVES as good people, too.

i'd say it's even seen as moral.

Buff 12-30-2003 01:58 PM

At least it wasn't Michael Jackson and Courtney Love -- although if it were, I'm not sure which would be the most admired man and which the woman....

How convenient you forget about the thousands of lives saved and millions liberated by removing two brutal regimes that killed and were continuing to kill many more than died during the wars.

He inherited a recession from his predecessor. A weak dollar is good for imports and the US economy at least for a while. How much richer is he and where did this money come from?

you're a bit confused. A weak dollar is good for exporters, I guess you could say it's good for reducing imports. A currency that no one has in faith in is not good for anybody, foreigners or american's alike.

Happy Dicks 12-30-2003 05:41 PM

I believe Jesus should be the most admired man in America, if all those who most influenced the American way of life base their spiritual beliefs on him, including the presidents.

Jesus died while fighting for free speech, against the religious right and the Roman government. He forgave anyone who asked. He made the most sense of life, and how to live, than anyone else I can think of.

I don't always live according to how Jesus taught, but I would like to someday, and I admire him the most out of anyone in history.

if there's one thing that can be counted on is that both sides of any argument can present/conduct/spin a poll to suit their own agenda.

all the same, if you have links to the polls you refer to then by all means post them. i'm not a complete pessimist.

MetaformX 12-31-2003 12:31 AM

this is not unexpected, its usually the sitting president, no matter how badly they suck, that is selected as the most admired

You can do a search on this board...or you can do a search on the Gallup site...as I believe that it was the last org to take a poll...and is...in my considered opinion to be the most reliable pollster.

well you've made the assertion that "it is the majority opinion of Iraqi's that they have been liberated...according to every poll taken inside Iraq" so surely it's not too difficult for you to find links to all those polls. the onus shouldn't be on others to disprove your claim.

This is one of several polls. I may search for more later if I feel like it...or not.

i wish this post hadnt been steamrolled by all of the people blindly defending their beliefs. face it, your beliefs all suck, they are a mixture of media and parents and friends beliefs. given a different situation, you would be defending the other side just as vehemently as you are defending your beliefs right now. everything is so arbitrary it is sickening. so strip all of your beliefs away, and try to be like Jesus.
