FACE IT: If you are small guy and promote porncash scams you are an idiot

You only hurt yourself in the short run. Not even long run since changes in this industry are radical.

Facts:

- porncash scams can charge surfers up to $200 while they appear as completely free and the only written notice exist on a TOS on some page.

- they promise tapes that do not exists. Plain imagination.

- The chargebacks out of these sales will turn against you and not against Atherton. I read porncash does 8k sales/day volume. How many chargebacks out of this? 5k? Well why not,not many customers will let a scammer steal $200 from their cards without doing anything..... 5k chargebacks/day is the cb limit for HALF MILLION valid transaction/day. The average surfer has 7-8 memberships to adult sites in a year period. (at least from past stats i read at ynot). This scam will be up for 5-6 months. Do you expect the scammed surfers to go and join again after this an adult site like nothing happened? Yeah ok. Keep dreaming.

What's the outcome of this? If you depend from the monthly checks to keep your normal lifestyle you are only hurting yourself and overall the industry and you are hurting VERY BAD. The consequences will be noticable in ratios within few months.

Serious businessmen and paysites owners have been building trust and credibility towards the surfers for years. Always scams existed that were hurting overall, but nothing like this and most important not in the range of porncash like it does now. You managed to kill the trust. Lack of trust is lack of business.

It's your game, your field.

BlackCrayon 12-29-2003 03:09 PM

anyone who promotes those programs clearly does not care about the industry whatsoever. greed kills. i don't know how these guys are able to hold onto their merchant account. i don't see any difference between outright theft and what these guys are doing. do you want to be a criminal?

exactly. im amazed that people would promote something that is so blatantly full of fraud. he's a thief. if he bangs the surfers he'll bang the webmasters even more.

I'm curious what the big affiliate program owners think of the whole deal.

too bad you'll have it repo'ed when visa fucks the industry and no one trusts sites enough to pull out their CC. and whats stopping these guys from not paying webmasters? they clearly have no problem stealing from anyone else.

... noone ever questioned lotteries like powerball, right. those guys steal millions and millions week after week ... it's the fucking same. if you are stupid enough to believe in it, you get your money taken away. only difference is, with lotteries you have the government behind it ...

how is that the same thing as promising something that doesnt even exist. someone wins the powerball eventually so its not a scam.

its more akin to having a lottery for immortal life, when of course there is no such fucking thing as immortality.

with lotteries, you lose a buck... these people are being charged 200.00 if I am reading this correctly.... big fucking difference IMO.

not a good comparison in my opinion. unless have the mental ability of a 4th grader you know that chances of actually winning the lottery is dick. you can't honestly say that 1000s of ppl buy lottery tickets thinking they all will win? in this case ppl are signing up thinking they all will get what they were promised. lotteries don't promise you'll win. maybe their website should say 1 in 100,000 will actually get to see the video, play your chances today.

Jman69 12-29-2003 03:43 PM

Porncash is shit, they fucked me as a webmaster, now I'm hearing they rip off customers.
The asshole running that program should be in jail.

WiredGuy 12-29-2003 03:48 PM

Said it once, will say it again. I will not promote a sponsor that had made the adult industry in its current shape. This is a prime example of why visa regulations were made.

There is at least a mathematical possibility of winning a lottery, no matter how small. That is gambling and gaming for you. People play Keno, don't they?

Paying money for a tape that you expect to have a 100% probability of receiving but for which you have an actual 0% probability of receiving is fraud.

Mike AI 12-29-2003 03:55 PM

This stuff has been going on from day one. Many of the "players" of this industry who get their asses kissed have done the same thing ( maybe not on the same level). This industry is built upon scamming... and is being destroyed by it.

Do you think a person who gets fucked on his credit card will ever use it again for an online porn site?

We as an industry have poisoned and will kill the Golden Goose...

People also get addicted to gambling and ruin their lives as well as their familes lives every day.

Goverment backed fucking. Shouldn't sound all that unusual.

You missed the point. The validity of government funding for gambling isn't being argued here. That's a different discussion entirely.

People also smoke crack. Therefore scamming people with credit cards is ok. ? At least stick to the subject at hand.

"You're sitting at a one-cent machine with a 10 per cent house advantage and you're betting a multiple of 10 on nine lines. That's 90 cents a spin, with an average loss of 9 cents. And let's be very conservative and assume you're busy chatting and drinking and only getting through 10 spins a minute. That's $9 a minute to the machine, with an average loss of 90 cents. Oh, there might be a few wins here and there, but the longer you play the closer your losses will be to the 10 per cent. Not much? Think again. In an hour at that rate (600 spins) your expected loss would be $54. Now multiply that by the number of hours you might sit there.

On a five-cent machine you'd lose an average of $270 per hour, on a 10-cent machine $540 per hour, and on a 20-cent machine $1080 per hour. Losses on a $1 machine don't bear thinking about. Fun, isn't it?"

... now you tell me who is bad, paris hilton scammers, or your goverment backing up gambling .. it's the fucking same !!

you can't justify it. sure gambling is a rip off but at least there is SOME chance that you will win SOMETHING. with the paris scam, you get nothing at all except a bill for 200 bucks, something that they aren't even aware they will be charged when they sign up. gambling and casinos have been around for a long time, ppl know how they work. most ppl i know don't go to casinos to win money but just for fun, something to do.

i've only been to a casino once, i don't much care for them. i spent 40 and won 100 bucks on 25 cent slot machines. i left right after that. so first time signing up to this paris site, is there any chance whatsoever at all that i will have any kind of luck getting anything out of it? nope.

if what they were doing didn't effect the rest of the industry, i wouldn't like it but i wouldn't care much but it does, so i do.

Theo 12-29-2003 04:32 PM

When you gamble you put your money upfront and not asked for a credit card to just validate your age like porncash.

MikeAI, you are right. The only difference this time the consequences will be VERY noticable due to the volume of the scam.

Honeyslut 12-29-2003 05:01 PM

I'm sorry but thats not even close to the same thing.

Its more like going to the store and buying a new tv. Then when you get home and open the box its been filled with bricks and no tv.

wyldblyss 12-29-2003 06:44 PM

Very good point! The effects snowball too when one person that is scammed tells 5 people who in turn each tell 5 and so on and so on.

Bad news travels fast!

... scam is scam, either way. people get scammed at casinos ... they return the next day. other guys get scamed at websites, they still buy again next week.

fuck it, the honorable fantasyman has been doing crosssells back in 97' (the sigfried and roy trick), it's the same everywhere you look.

p.e. plasma screens have an average life of 4 years, so 2 years ago you spend 20k PLUS on a TV and now the industrie tells you it will black out in another 2 years ... how about that? it's capitalism, the whore of the free world, get over it !!

maybe if they just signed up to a shitty site for 5.99 on a trial they would sign up again. 200 bucks is a lot of money to a lot of ppl.

yeah i hate cross sales. i try and avoid promoting sites that use them but its hard. even still tho, at least fantasymans sites had members areas with content, something this scam site doesn't.

once again tho, at least you are getting SOMETHING instead of NOTHING.

nothing i or anyone else says will make a difference, money speaks louder than any man but i will say it over and over agian, ppl who are promoting sites like this are greedy bastards who are very short sighted.

That has to be the weakest comparison or excuse for fucking over people I've ever seen. If that's all you can come up with... you got nothing pal.

There are LOTS of people in prison who used to drive Ferraris, and I'm sure they are among the hard timer's favorite peices of meat.
