Do you think Sky Marshals could have prevented or minimzed 9/11 damage?
 

Just heard that they are putting more of them on international flights, now we all know they cant possibly put one on evry flight due to amount of flights and the cost. So you think these sky marshals are a false sense of security? Can one marshal bring things under control in event of a hijack? Could damages been prevented during 9/11 if sky marshals were on those flights?

With them being armed and trained properly, I don't see how you could say that they WOULDN'T play a factor. How much of a factor? Who can say?

As for not being on every flight, the other issue is that any potential terrorists will have to take that into account, just in case (since they won't know which flight has a marshall, and which doesn't). In order for them to counter the possiblity that a marshal is on the flight, they will have to get more people on board, and get better forms of weapons on board. Both of those things will make detection and exposure prior to the flight that much more likely, and may deter them altogether.:2 cents:

On the other hand, I don't see why Al-Qaeda would still try to hijack a plane. What kind of passengers won't believe that they're gonna crash into some building and try to take matters into there own hands?

I agree, they would have to be pretty stupid/naive to try and jack a commercial airliner again. Shooting one down or placing a bomb onboard I could see as a possibility.

Most hijackings with terrorists involve 3 to 4 guys. You have 1 air marshall that's going to take them all out without having a shooting fest in the cabin? I highly doubt it.

They hype us with these training tapes showing what great marksmen they are, but in real life scenario's things don't go down that easy.

You'll have women and children freaking out screaming and standing up. All a terrorist has to do is grab one and the air marshall is fucked.
