Aussie webmasters check deposit fees!
Any of you Aussie webmasters found a bank that doesn't charge for depositing US checks?
I've tried Bank of Queensland, Suncorp, CBA and St George... they all charge me at least $5 per check. I don't want to pay anything for giving them business. |
I have talked my Bank the National and got them to put 3 checks on one order for $10....thats the best deal i have found so far ....would like to know if there are better ..coz i would change over :)
|
Fuckin' ANZ charges $15 per cheque. But i sweet talk 'em and they do 4 or 5 for 15 normally. So smooth. :1orglaugh

On the other hand - whatever fee you have to pay per cheque is a cost of doing business and so it becomes a legitimate tax deduction. |
Speak to your bank.
These fees are generally set for one time transactions that people do not do very often, you can often negotiate them to be waived etc. |
yeah it sucks, CBA charges $7 each if i remember correctly, if anyone finds a cheap alternative let me know
|
hmm if a cheque is in US$ is it then a check? or still a cheque?

Buggered if I know :glugglug The Commonwealth now charges $10.00 |
i mostly go with the CBA and yes it no longer is 7 dollars its now been 10 dollars for some time.
cheapest i found was suncorp metway if you show them your uni id to show you are a student. They charge you 5 dollars per cheque which is quiet reasonable i think. I dont think you will find a place that does it for free we are talking about the banks you know :) |
I use qld Police credit union for my checks and they charge a flat fee of $10 no matter how many cheques.
|
Switch to wires, it is the best way to receive money, you have neither to go to your bank to deposit :2 cents:
|
Yeah i dont pay fees at my credit union.
Its good to know you fellow bank manager ;) And apart from the fact that i am single handidly keeping their foreign currency area alive !! hehe BigNath |

westpac - chatted to the bank manager - when she saw my deposits of the last few months she now charges us $10 for any number of cheques, as long as they are from the same company
eg 6 weeks of silvercash cheques all paid in at the same time cost $10 Just as an aside - moved back to england for a few months earlier in the year. Reopened an old nat west account and started depositing US$ cheques. Before I did that chatted to the bank manager and he told me ten quid for any number of cheques. Cool, so I had all my cheques sent over from australia and put them in. The fuckers took six weeks to cash them (with westpac here in australia the $$ go immediately into my account) and charged me thirty quid AND twenty dollars US per cheque. Needless to say, I created hell, particularly after the bank manager telling me 10 quid unlimited. Took me 4 meetings with the bank manager and the area manager, but finally got my money back - all 600 quid of it:) |
