depends how you like your steak done. I prefer it medium rare. I had a nice cut sent down from WA last night and it was mmmmm good. Feeling really mad for some reason though today.

Why do people eat red meat rare? You wouldn't eat ground beef uncooked would you?
|
Better when it's not bloody
|
I like it medium rare

but the reason is that no bacteria or germs are in the middle of the steak, all of it is on the outside so when you cook it a little on each side its dead, problem with hamburger meat is that the outside all gets ground up and mixed in, so cooking well throughout is necessary to kill all the germs. |
I still don't get it. If you have the option of cooking it all the way through, or having it somewhat raw (rare), why would you choose the raw option?

Prions are great in beef:)
Enjoy!@ |
I like all of my beef medium rare, and if you have a clean kitchen, and buy local beef from a good butcher, you should have no problems. Most of the problems come from beef that is processed thru huge facilities and trucked to the various area distribution centers.
What I want to know is why Filet Mignon? It the leanest and thus least flavorful cuts of beef. That is why it takes butter and bacon, etc. to make it taste good. Go with a T-bone, then you get a bit of the filet and the great siroin as well. For max flavor go with a rib eye. |
