The domain game

Im not a pro or anything, but I have sold a few domains in the past.

Here are some helpful tips for finding/selling good domains.

1. sex-lovely-pussy69.com might look like a good domain and you might think you can sell it for $14,000 on ebay... but your better off saving your $7.99 ($35.00 if you are someone who doesnt shop around)

2. Dot coms are still king.

3. Use services such as marketleap.com to see if your domain has any link popularity.

4. archive.org is also a good tool to find out the history of the domain.

5. If it has been unregistered for 8 months. Its probobly not very valuable.

6. Build a website around your domains. They will be much more valuable if they have traffic.

7. Keep track of your domains and remember to renew them or I will snatch them up myself.

Like I said, Im not a pro, but here are some tips :thumbsup

Thanks for the tip. There should be a service that tracks traffic to dead domains, buys them and resells them.

These are obvious things for everyone.
I really wonder why people who acheived something in this biz ( f.e run a succesfull TGP or build good AVS sites or..whatever ) have completely no idea how to appraise their domains.

well considering good names expire every day I'd say it probably is a tip some people could do with taking.

thnx for the tips... I don't think .com's are still king tho, they're good but .net or .biz is easily accepted too

The bad thing about .net websites is once they get popular, they will always leak traffic to the .com version of the name. :2 cents:

That's odd, I pushed some out a few days after I bought them. :1orglaugh

.net and .biz are good for SEO and nothing more

if you are seeking to brand any domain beside .com you are crazy.

pussyluver 12-28-2003 10:20 AM

Ctrl-Enter = add .com in IE. That little point makes .com more valuable.

I remember a website a while back that rented out domains that had traffic. Can't remember the domain though. Wonder if it still exists.
