U.S. Loses 90 Percent of Beef Exports

Just days after discovering the nation's first case of mad cow disease, the United States has lost nearly all of its beef exports as more than a dozen countries stopped buying American beef as insurance against potential infection.

They're quarantining all herds that show any signs of the disease, they've removed all meat from the cases at my stores for USDA testing purposes, and restocked with fresh meat from local farms.

I'll be having a nice beef stew tonight for supper. Supposing I can keep anything down. Damn flu. :(

There'd be a lot less meat eaters if more people saw how gross and unsanitized the whole process is.

the one case we had here...was from an animal from the states..that implies it has been rampant there for awhile.

there is no way they can honestly say they have all the bases covered.
I think they will eventually just have to kill all US cows, and enforce heavy legislation and regulations to keep it from happening again

Actually yes -
If you eat Macdonalds and most other beefburgers, you will be surprised how they can make a good profit from a dead animal -
Uk had several cases of bsd (?) from beefburger eaters.
And it looks a damn painful death.

If America has this problem now - Your best bet is to stay off beef -
Of course - The chances of contacting this is minimal and eating steaks etc should cause no problem - But eating minced beef - Quite simply, that is risking it.
