Why do minorities vandalize with graffiti?

they are expressing themselves not vandalizing - art of the people.

some of us weren't born into families where we got 64 packs of Crayolas, paints canvas and easels.

I think it's more of an income issue than a race issue. Ever seen the highway walls or cliffs outside little hick whitebread towns? They're usually covered with years and years of paint scrawls.

i'm an active writer in montreal. in other words, i do graffiti. and i am not a minority.
i know a good majority of the writers in my city, and very few are minorities. for example, i only know two black writers in my city.

perhaps you're confusing graffiti with gang vandalism. there are significant and important differences.

You should see tha wall here in Gainesville that the students paint.

The city gave up trying to stop them, and now allow it as long as the area is kept clean and they are not painting hate material of any kind. Every not and then you will see prats that have been painted over in white paint. A place where some asshole decided to put something that is illegal...

A lot of graffiti (art) supplies come for the UK and Germany so someting doing Graffiti is not so bad if you do it on a legal wall!

It may be "writing" when you do it on your own property, it's vandalism when you do it on someone elses.

what exactly does that have to do with the topic at hand?

Why don't they express themselves on their own walls. Some graffiti is really great looking, and a lot of these kids have talent. But they should practice their shit on their own walls, and actually start getting paid for it. There's a few graff artists here that get paid big bucks to do walls for businesses and such.

The sad part is.. many of these kids could make big bucks with their talent if they put it to use in the right places...
