How does Greenguy's Link-O-Rama get its traffic?
How do sites like Greenguy's Link-o-Rama get its traffic?
Since they don't do forced traffic on their outgoing links, how do receive traffic other than SE traffic? I see that some TGPs link to Greenguy's site, but Greenguy doesn't link back. Yet this counts for a couple hundred hits, are people just being generous? |
it is an honor to give him free traffic.
|
Its called surfer retention, bookmarkers, name recognition, strong hard link trade partners, tons of newbies who think if they put up a link and send traffic, that he'll send back too.. You get in early and build a following, its pretty much certain that your going to succeed..

it is so obvious that i would hate myself if i would try to make you understand it

If you don't know how sites like green guy, pk, tommy, thehun, ect get traffic, then, well, I don't know what to say. |

And because I don't have the visitor loyalty and branding like the ones created back in the 90's, how am I going to obtain traffic? |

Enlighten me. |
Green Guy is one of the oldest, along with Persian Kitty. I cannot tell you how many times I have seen his url mentioned in mainstream articles. Same with Kitty. I even heard a rumor once that Playboy wanted to buy Persian Kitty and turn it into a brand, but she turned them down because she was making too much money on her own..
Also, the Wetlands is a good example of people who got major press for years and years and don't have to worry about it anymore. |
I heard he places thousands of tiny classified ads in newspapers across the country.

ok here is a tip that will save you a lot of money i dont know you or your skills but based on your question i can tell you.. if you try to follow greenguys or hoes or whatever fucking linklists way you will fail from day 1! i can tell you that already... you can quote me on that in a couple of months.... believe me... with no connections... no foundation and (sorry) no real clue this will have the same effect like opening tgp #2893562935 it will die and the project fails save your money... i am honest and serious about the above said... anyone can correct me at any time :) |
Not to mention GG has like 30,000 sites in his link listings (just a wild guess), all of whom are linking to him. There are likely 5 times that in sites linking to him that AREN'T in his database, some old forgotten sites that still get traffic, freehosted pages etc. It all adds up.
One would imagine the search engine traffic would be pretty good for a long-established site with that kind of popularity. |
going back to my family now :)
im still hungry lol |
heres a question i've always wondered. how the fuck is he allowed to use the hitchiker guide to the galaxy guy? havent they sued his ass yet or did he actually pay for a license?

The thing someone has to explain to me is that why are there sites like mmm100, teeniesxxx, etc. send traffic to GreenGuy, and yet, he doesn't send any back from his site? |
GG has been around since forever.. that may have something to do with it..:2 cents:

And how would you know how much SE traffic he gets? Puhleeze. |

Now... Why do TGPs send GreenGuy traffic with no return traffic? |

The worst part is that he doesn't own Greenguy.com.
|
I know i don't put his link up and i don't badder with his site anymore...since there is no return. Not that i don't think GG isn't a good place or a good webmaster, but what's the point ? I don't put sites for their reputation alone, unless it gives me a head up in the SE placement.

The true fact is 200X or even more, link to GG than he links to them. When he started back in 96 or 97, he was writing and linking to anybody and everybody - I took a link exchange but noticed the return link disappeared very quickly. Having said that - The guy is working a great programme and has worked his butt off to get where he is today - Nice guy! |

That would probabely work too well... |

progex, sometimes it is hard to get a straight answer to a simple question on GFY. a few people here gave you the right answer. building long-term traffic with staying power takes a methodical plan and some time. PK has been around since about '95 or '96, that's the stoneage in internet time. study this link: http://www.link-popularity-checker.com/ and you will find the answer. now go build your link list and get your plan in action. |
