Getting a new PC
Thinking about the setup below. Any ideas on things to change?
Motherboard: Asus MB P4C800 Deluxe Intel P4 DDR Processor: Intel Pentium4 2.8GHz 800MHz Memory: Kingston 512Mb Hyper X DDRAM 400MHz (x2) Hard disks: HDD 120Gb 7200rpm SATA (x2) Video card: VGA ATI Radeon 9600 128Mb Soundcard: Creative SB Audigy LS |
Have the same except audio/video... works perfect :thumbsup
|
Since I'm not really a gamer, the video/audio cards are a bit lame. No use in paying for something I'm not going to use :glugglug
|
lol...same here, actually my audio/video even worser
|
try doubling your RAM

"Worser" is not a word in the English language. Your sentance would have been fine with, "even worse." :) |

You might want to check out Corsair Memory Modules. They are the best around and real speed demons.
|
Get the P4P instead, take the money you just saved and turn that 9600 into a Pro or a XT
|
got a similar system only i have 1gig of ram.
and i plan on buying another gig =D ... |

that looks like a good system to me punk. I have the 3ghz with that ASUS board (good choice!). one thing, do you plan on using RAID? it's really easy to setup with that board it will give you something to do as well, I didnt bother with RAID, nice just having 2x 120gb's hard drives, but it's a good option if you want to mirror one as a backup :)
I would recommend going for WD SATA drives and if you really want to push the boat out go for Corsair memory (twin pair, XMS), PC4000 since the board can take it! as for the video card, it seems fine... if you play a lot of games I would check out the radeon 9800 XT or whatever (256mb) as that seems the best card out there right now. |
Why are you going with the 2.8?
