Good motherboard?
I've decided to just put together my own computer. The only thing I have a problem with finding (because I don't know much about them) is the motherboard. Whats good? I was told Intel Gigabyte is good, but im not sure what model. I don't need intergrated audio/video, but if it comes with it I want to be able to disable it and add my own. So please post some suggestions, :thumbsup

ASUS A7N8X Deluxe
Just built a new PC and used this incredible board. It totally rocks. It's got integrated sound that is equal to if not superior to Audigy 2's sound. ASUS just release the same board with an -E designation which has built in WIFI. Get it here. They have the best prices and ship ultra fast. http://www.newegg.com You can read customer reviews there on every product. |
Oh, and I will be buying a P4 2.8 ghz proccesor, if that helps what type of motherboard I should be looking for.

Depends on what type of memory you want. I suggest you get a dual-channed DDR400 compatible motherboard. Anything by Gigabyte is great. I have one with the SIS655 chip, rock solid. Newer chips are out thou.

are you getting P4 or Athlon XP?
I would recommend Athlong XP with the A7N8X mobo my pc has never ever crashed or locked up on me it's as stable as a rock and the mobo just has tons of great features with it you dont have to buy a lan card or a sound card or firewire card :thumbsup |

I had been planning to put an Audigy 2 in but once I heard the integrated sound, I realized it wasn't needed. Its that good. |

I love SuperMicro boards.
I have bought over 40 of them and never had one go bad or was DOA. Top quality boards and decent support. |

I love ASUS products, but I have stayed away from their MB lately. I have stuck to Intel, and have had good results. The Intel 865PERL handles p4 800Mhz FSB and DDR 400 Memory ( I like Corsair).

Asus P4C800-E Deluxe. Absolutely the best of the current boards.
It's the only one of the lot with the Ethernet off of the PCI bus. |
