Jay's New Linklist
 

Since, November 2001, when I started Jays XXX Links it has become a very popular. Jays has grown from a mere 5,000 visitors a day, around this time last year, to an average 65,000-80,000 visitors a day now. I do not use traffic trading scripts or blind linking ? it?s 99% SE traffic and bookmarks. I have decided to take what I have learned and start a second linklist, this time it will list exclusively movie and video content.

(Yeah, I know ? it looks just looks my other site ? this is a combination of smart branding, sheer laziness, shameless duplication of success, and lack of graphic design skill. I am still tweaking the site, so withhold any final judgment.)

I figure with more and more people going to broadband and DSL connections, an all movie linklist is the next logical step.

I have populated it with a bunch of stuff to get it started. I am now accepting submissions. All submissions that are approved will be given a listing for a full year, as opposed to the 180 day standard listings. Remember, this is not a TGP nor is it a site that links pictures ? this is a linklist for movies. I also would like to see my recips listed with the recips of the other big linklists ? call me stuck up, but that the way I want it. As many of you know, I concentrate on search engine traffic, so having your sites listed here is a great way for you to get spidered, and eventually get a few of your own SE hits. I?m also going to be running a lot of my own traffic through.

How many movies per submission are required to get listed?

I'm going with 10 per site right now. I think that is reasonable.

Sounds like a good idea to me, I'll get links to my movie sites over there asap! I have had some good traffic come in from your original links list :)

Yeah man - I'm really looking for some of you people who build movie sites to submit to me. I know every major linklist has a movie category and it's usually the most popular one. I've just gone and broken it down by niche.

I know there a lot of Video TGPs already. With a links list you will get higher quality traffic over a longer period of time - hence more bang for your bandwidth.

I've found that doing something like this is one of the best ways to make a sale:

it isn't said often, but i'll say it here - on almost all major linklists - your link expires after 180 days

oh yeah - and ther is no easter bunny too

I don't get that many SE hits a day, a lot of that traffic is bookmarkers. One thing I have realized is that, it's one thing to be found on the SEs (type XXX {just about anything} and you are likely to see me up there), but if you build something cool that people will come back to - that is just as important. It pays off too.

Just checking around lately and you have some really good rankings, especially after the Florida update. You actually show up as the first adult site under teen sex for example, a damn good ranking. Congrats :)

Jay and I have fine tuned our sites to take full advantage of our SE traffic. So many sites just bombard SE surfers with FPAs, banner farms etc... that's great for a quickie, but damn, just think if you got that first sale, plus a bookmarker, plus a surfer that trusts you. Gives a whole damn new meaning to "recurring revenue".

Jay, please, please, please don't give your secrets away to the masses. I want to be the only one that understands you ;-)

Yeah man - I've learned my lesson about that in the past. To do what I've mentioned, it takes commitment of time, hard work, and investment of money - most people are not even ambitious enough. It was more just some common sense advice.

Some of my pages weathered that update - some pages got snuffed. Overall my traffic actually went up a little, even though I lost some big terms.

Consider yourself lucky, my traffic has plummetted big time. All ethical listings too, no spam or irrelevant links... surviving off freshbot and PPC SE's right now :)

Yeah - well we all know what happened. They want you surviving off those PPCs. The Florida thing was money motivated, so if you lost listings - it wasn't your fault - I'm sure. I've always played a conservative / long term SE game, so it was a big dissapointment to se good listings to get axed like that, while A LOT of the worst spam listings still lived on.

Tell me about it! All commercial stuff has been booted lately. Drives me nuts but at least we're all in the same boat. I'm just glad I wasn't singled out in this last update but a lot of changes need to come in the future to stay in business. Thank god for mixing up the SE strategy with some PPC.

Yeah - hadn't been doing a lot of PPC cause my ranks were really god with the free listings. My #1 refferer was a #4 for "xxx" and that is totally gone. December has been my highest sales month of all time, and I rememeber seeing a post somewhere about you being the #1 sales guy for CEN this month, so you couldn't be doing THAT bad - lol.

I wonder how much better the profit is with all SE traffic compared to high (10x) numbers of traded traffic?
