Yes, I'm just an inbred hick like everyone else.

The Northridge Quake in '94 was my last one. It clubbered my beautiful home I had just built two years earlier and after that I said never again and moved to Florida.

Cali hasn't dropped in to the ocean yet has it?

I think I still have family out there....

Wankenstein 12-22-2003 12:36 PM

Have there been any reports about damage near the epicenter?

Sarah_Jayne 12-22-2003 12:36 PM

Hey some of us in the UK are familiar with Earthquakes now...we all survived the Great Dudley Earthquake of 2002 :1orglaugh

Elli 12-22-2003 12:37 PM

I hope you all are safe down there! I didn't feel anything up here, but our house is on some bedrock, so we didn't even feel the one in seattle a few years ago.

Yes, they happen every day. The plates are always moving.

smooth move genius. What do you think the odds are that it would happen to you twice? you should have rebuilt right on the same spot.

We moved into a house just around the corner from where those two guys dressed up in full body armor and shot up that bank in north hollywood.
http://www.cnn.com/US/9702/28/shooto...hootout.43.mov

we moved there because the odds of that ever happening are a million to one. I'd go so far as to say it's the safest bank in so cal.

RedShoe 12-22-2003 12:49 PM

They seem to be heading down to LA along the fault line. I wonder if we'll feel stonger ones down here.

And for you earthquake newbies... Cali will absolutely NOT break into the ocean in our lifetime... or even your great grand children's lifetimes.

LAJ 12-22-2003 12:50 PM

Wow... didn't feel a thing!

No way. We had 3 acres up on the western edge of the valley. The back which was on an incline sheared off and dropped. We later found out a fault was running right under the property. So eventually it will go again. Still owned by a family member but I won't live there.

Lonny 12-22-2003 12:52 PM

I didnt feel shit. Turned the TV on right now and just found out. Was jamming to Trance Airwaves so nothing was felt by me.
Still not big as the Northrige quake.

KRL 12-22-2003 12:55 PM

It's hard to describe what the 6.8 felt like back in 94 if you were living close to it like I was, but its what you would imagine the vibrations and pressures to feel like if you were within visual distance of a nuclear bomb going off.

In fact my first reaction since it was a sudden roar and not like the normal ones that have a little pre buildup, was that LA had been nuked.

We had huge double doors with solid brass locks and bolts and it twisted those like they were paper clips. Everything in our house fell and broke. Every room had cracks everywhere. Our pool got all fucked up as did our waterfall. All the foutains broke. The ground split open in our back hill. The garage separated from the house. The walkways all got cracked. The entire house moved off the frame which had been reinforced with huge earthquake bolts which failed and didn't do what they were supposed to.

It was a living nightmare.

Laurel 12-22-2003 12:56 PM

My mom and sis lives in San Luis Obispo about 30miles from Paso. They are a little shaken up, but thank goodness they are all fine. Now, they have to deal with a few more aftershocks.....

Sean 12-22-2003 12:58 PM

it rolled santa cruz good. it was longer than a lot of
quakes that we feel here, so everyone got outside.
i didnt know that it was this big of a deal to most
people. we are used to them for the most part

Mr. Jim 12-22-2003 01:05 PM

Felt it in the AON tower in Downtown Los Angeles

My first thought was an explosion.....

Glad it was not.....

fsfaz 12-22-2003 01:14 PM

I'm in West Hollywood here and I didn't feel shit (although I just woke up).

Meloman 12-22-2003 01:18 PM

Wow, crazy. I'm all the way up in SanFrancisco so I didn't feel anything.

I remember the big one we had here back in '89 I think. That was a bit scary.

Hope everyone is Ok everywhere :)
