Hypothetical question.....

If an attorney, politician, or some other kind of "figure" such as those made a friendly comment to you about laying low on these message boards...Would it make an impact on your posting habits?

I owuld wonder what was on their mind to make them say that in the first place.

Discuss.

Perhaps if you made a statement considered a threat

Paul Markham 12-21-2003 11:28 PM

I suppose it would depend who said it, but living here I guess I get to have more freedom of speech. :1orglaugh

Do you you know something Aaron that should be shared?

If it was genuine advice, i guess it could have an impact. I mean, if something you're saying on a message board could get you into some real trouble, then yeah .. i think i'd quiet down some.

But other than death threats and libelous comments, i don't see what could get you into trouble.

Tala 12-21-2003 11:43 PM

Depends on who said it and why. If there was a significant reason for me to lay low, then I would do so.

as soon as you lose the precious anonimity the internet provides, ANYONEs posting or interactive habits will change in some way or another...your not as meaningless and your posts are not as meaningless if you know someone else is paying attention...especially if they intend to do you some form of harm.

Ah...But I am very selective of the info I post here.

You see...If you publicly post all of the informationthat people have entrusted you with then sooner or later you will find that those peope no longer trust you.

A lot of information is given on a need to know basis only.

Example: Everybody needs to know that SleazyDream can eat more Big Macs in one sitting than the entire Miami Dolphins football team combined.

It sounds like sage advice to me. If the authorities monitor these boards (which I assume they do) they have easy access to statements that could make you look like a real ass in court if your ever the target of a prosecution.

Attorney's are always conservative.... and NEVER give you ANY advice for free as a friend (they all say that though) but wait till you see your bill with that added 1 1/2 hours of billed conference time to tell you that!!!!!!

You have nothing to worry about legally here Aaron, as I see it you are a very good poster, and always bash the guy with opinions, or by getting someone else to do it after you incite them (a valuable traight btw)

and as far as the FEDS here is a hint for all of you paranoid fucks that always tell people to watch out for the man...... DO NOT DO ANYTHING ILLEGAL AND THEY CAN NOT BUST YOU!!!!

again aaron from what I can see this should not be of great concern to you either, as you always fly straight when it comes to biz

so in short, you probably got the generic answear (wich in case is a real warning as some posters just expose themselves in a bad light all the time, i.e. sex ped) this might have been what the person was saying to you. That lawyer was just playing the odds and looking for billable time, while ofering you sound generic (as oppossed to specific) advice anyone that has dealt with lawyers for any real ammount of time will share my sentiment I am sure....

Shit if anything, you should charge people to read your posts sometimes!!!!:2 cents:
