Here's a brain teaser. Just curious to see who knows how to do these around here. I don't need help with these problems or anything, just wanna see who can figure them out. (I already have the answers and will post them later)

A particular seafood restaurant serves dinner Tuesday through Sunday. The restaurant is closed on Monday. Five entrees?snapper, halibut, lobster, mahi mahi, and tuna?are served each week according to the following restrictions:

* Halibut is served on three days each week, but never on Friday.
* Lobster is served on one day each week.
* Mahi mahi is served on three days each week, but never on consecutive days.
* Halibut and snapper are both served on Saturday and Sunday.
* Tuna is served five days each week.
* No more than three different entrees are served on any given day.


#1.) On which of the following pairs of days could the restaurant's menu of entrees be identical?

this question sucks... it's D, B, something.. I stopped caring

i did that kind of question when i actually took the lsat.

i had to drink for a week straight just to get back to normal after that! ;-)

I didn't look at it too long because my son was running around but I'm going to guesstimate from some quick observations.

Umm.... that is what you hire professional menu planners for... I am with Henry Ford on the idea of not bothering my brain with detail work... I can hire people to do that stuff...

I know for sure that #2 is B..

This is nuts but here goes...

Answers:

1.) D
You can eliminate (A) because halibut is served on Sunday but not on Friday, so the menu for these two days cannot be the same. You can eliminate (B) as well as (E) because mahi mahi cannot be served on consecutive days. You can eliminate (C) because mahi mahi is served on either Saturday or Sunday, but not both. You can eliminate (C) also because mahi mahi is served on either Saturday or Sunday, but not both. By process of elimination, (D) must be the correct answer.


2.)B
The correct response to Question 2 is (B). Halibut cannot be served on Friday, and lobster cannot be served on either Saturday or Sunday. However, both may be served on any of the other three days.

3.)E
The correct response to Question 3 is (E). If mahi mahi is served on Saturday, it must be served on Tuesday and Thursday as well (otherwise, mahi mahi would be served on at least two consecutive days), and tuna must be served on Sunday rather than Saturday (otherwise, four entrees would be served on Saturday). Given these conclusions, you can eliminate (A), (B), (C), and (D) because in each one at least four entrees would be served on the day specified by the answer choice. (E) could be true, however. Lobster and snapper can both be served on Friday, since tuna is the only entree that must be served on that day.

IPK, I won't be going to law school for a while, but I just like to look through the questions once in a while and see how many I can get right.

That's what I get for guesstimating LSAT questions!

Tuna has to be served each day except saturday, and mahimahi on both tuesday and thursday, then how could lobster and halibut be served on tuesday or thursday? that would make 4 entrees...

Okay, I have been known to be wrong on many occasions, but I don't think your answers can be true by my equations..I'll give this some more thought and see if I can figure out howyou could be right.

I'm not going to look at that answer page..I want to figure this out on my own. Okay by my chart:

Tuesday - Mahi Mahi , Tuna
Wed - Tuna
Thursday - Mahi Mahi, Tuna
Friday - Tuna (never halibut)
Saturday - Halibut, Tuna , MahiMahi
Sunday - Halibut, Tuna, MahiMahi

Wednesday is the only day halibut and lobster could be served together.

Okay, yes #3 couldn't also be B which I thought in my first post. so that is correct.

Okay, I see..I jumped ahead of myself, and took the #3 mahi mahi on saturday thing as applying to both the first 2 questions as well, which is not the case.
