My Eyes Are Bleeding
Seriously, my eyes have been feeling strained to the point I cant look at my screen for too long.
I have been working very, very long hours due to the Internext rush. Am overbooked and for some reason I went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror and noticed on my eye lids, like small blood clot like patches of blood. I literally think I have made my eye lids bleed from staring at the screen. Having a headache for 5 days now, despite sinus medicine and aspirin, I am not sure what to do. My eyes hurt, and the veins in my eye lids are visible if i close one eye and look at it in the mirror. I think I need a day off. Anyone else ever have anything like this? |

I dont need you to believe me.
And I am not joking. I am very serious. |
Can't you get those things you place on your monitor to stop the glare? Maybe that might help?
|
you need a couple of days off, you deserve it.

I am not lying. Never had anything like this before. Its mainly the right one, just a small (size of a pinky nail) patch of blood like a small vessel popped or something, no clue, I am no doctor. But my eyes have been hurting me for about 5 days, I checked it out and thats what I saw. Yesterday, I had to get off my machine for hours, and again, I am not joking about this. |
webmastering is bad for your health :)

Don't have anything like bleeding eyes, but the overbooked part is what I recognize. Damn everybody seems to need all before they leave for internext. I do like to work in a rush though, makes me work better :glugglug

Go to a clinic and consult with a doc, you dont want to be in a position where you can mess them up permanently :2 cents: |
Damn...sounds pretty serious..I would hit up the doc pretty quick :(

Blah you dont need to go to a doctor.... Just take a week or more off (and don't spend it watching TV). Spend some time outside and throw some cucumber Slices on your eyes when you sleep.
also try some of the exercises on this page. http://www.visionworksusa.com/computereyestrain.htm |
Y just need some drops and a day or 2 of rest. See your dr. ASAP!:eek7

Alias: I think the multiple screens is what it is.
I had 2 monitors at my station for 2 years now, but didnt really use the second one too too much. Within the last week, I had to put a new machine into the mix, meaning the removal of my other machine and the installation of a newer one in its place. I have had both monitors on MUCH more over the opast week or so, and have noticed a definite increase in strain since then, literally just moving files from one box to the other shit like that. I am guessing thats all it is, long hours and sitting too close to two monitors. Did the LCD help the strain? My girl is asking me to buy her one of them, I dont really care one way or the other about them, but if it helps I will buy tweo of those fuckers one for each of us and see if it helps. My girl runs multiple machines at a time too. |

you know I used to have that very same problem
and was always wiping crusty shit out of my eyes hurt so bad sometimes I just couldnt work but i look at screens full of code all day, and log files so I changed my editors to black backgrounds with red text. This is very relaxing for your eyes to look at, doesnt cause any strain and there is no glare. Obviously you cant do that if you're doing graphic design, but if you work with screens full of text it will help out |

Obviously my persistent headaches have been due to my eyes and nothing to do with sinuses at all. i HAVE to wrap up some things today, but come tonight, I think its time for some cold beers and herbs. :) |
go see a fucking doctor already fletch
|
damn darlin ... get some rest from the screens...
use warm damp wash cloths over your eyes for like ten minutes at a time, it'll help relax the muscles. |
yea i suggest going to see a doctor
your health > graphics i think you may face difficulty designing phat pages if you are blind |
Post some pics of your balls... eye that is :thumbsup

as for a doctor, whats he gonna tell me? Take a few days off my computer? ok doc. 'One, two, three, four) Ooh yeah! Ow-ow! You better call me a doctor, baby, no pain Overloaded, down the drain Somebody get me a doctor You better call up the ambulance I'm, deep in shock Overloaded baby, I can hardly walk.' :helpme |
Fletch, your symptoms are eerily similar to what has been plaguing me the past few weeks. I sit down at the computer and within a half hour it feels like my sinuses are pushing my eyes out of my head and they burn and water really bad. I haven't noticed any bulging/burst capillaries though, just unbearable pain and can't keep my eyes open.
What I've found that helps is 1. Get away from the computer for a while. 2. Alieve Sinus Pressure and Headache capsules. |
Sorry, you have eye canser.
|
Same thing has happened to me. I've been mega busy myself, staring at this screen for hours and hours and hours intensely.
My eyes arent bleeding but I've had bad sinus problems and my eyes feel really fatigued and achey. I'm getting a new system too Fletch, i'm going to be doing the same thing you are in about 2 weeks... =D If my eyes start bleeding ima be pissed. |
Fletch, your success is well deserved.
Interesting for someone as talented and in demand as you, you don't have a huge overblown ego. That's probably the personal trait I admire most about you.:thumbsup |
