Concerns With Adult Beat

So I was checking out the new AdultBeat.com site today when I noticed that TAW's interview with Hamilton Steele was posted, or at least part of it. When I saw the article headline I assumed that this would merely be a link to our article page, since I certainly didn't give anyone permission to republish our work in regard to this article. Unfortunately that's not what happened.

First problem, at the top of the interview it says "By Duke Floored" who I assume is Luke Ford?? This interview was conducted by TheAdultWebmaster.com's Jennifer Leigh and nobody else, and I have not given permission to anyone to post it. So while I'm not sure if Luke is really trying to take credit for the interview or not, it certainly appears that way since neither Jennifer nor TheAdultWebmaster.com are mentioned anywhere.

Second problem, the link back to the source interview is done in such a way that hardly anyone will know it's a link or that there's more to the interview. So in other words, most people who see this interview on AdultBeat.com will give "Floored" credit without having any clue who actually did the work.

Hopefully all this was just an oversight that will be quickly corrected. A lot of work goes into creating features such as Jennifer's interview with Hamilton. If AdultBeat.com wants to post a brief portion or highlight of one of our features, clearly giving credit where credit is due, and then link to the full feature in a way that isn't misleading then that's certainly something I'm open to agreeing to...

I haven't checked that page out since it went up. Would be a much better resource if it pertained more to the adult web and not so much on the movie aspect of the adult biz.

Even the dude in the interview in the article in questions feels the same way...well, to an extent:

"I believe for porn, video and DVDs are dying. Look at the current porn environment; most pornographers learn their trade second hand, have no real formal education in film production or business, and there really is no proverbial envelope left to push without making a snuff video. In contrast, the Web pornographers are highly intelligent, have no loyalties to specific medium, don?t require distribution, and when new technology appears it is easily integrated into their current business M.O. Add to this they are concerned with the bottom line and not popularity or award shows."

By "that page" do you mean AdultBeat or TheAdultWebmaster.com? Because TAW absolutely does relate to the online portion of the industry...

Connor 12-17-2003 04:51 PM

JupZChris, no this isn't good enough for the reasons I already stated.

To someone who writes, the By Line is the key. Here's the byline on that article:

Hamilton Steele Interview
by Duke Floored (send email to Duke Floored)

That would qualify as plagarism.

Hey whats up Connor long time no see. "Duke Floored" is not Luke Ford it's a satire caricature. Yeah you should have been given credit for your work rather than an obscure mouse over HREF.

that sucks Conner could have been worse though it could have been those usual scumbags at xbiz ripping the article off they do it to everyone else :2 cents:

Digipimp 12-17-2003 05:58 PM

The site sucks I posted about it several times. This Duke Floored assclown offers up nothing worth reading and virtually nothing original. The top 10 threads, who has any idea, I looked at them and have no clue as to why something is a top 10 thread and why something is not. The whole site just sucks ass as it is right now.

:thumbsup
