I'm going to go way out there on a limb and assume that DarkJedi posed this question as a joke....

Although I once read a feminist criticism of Moby Dick that made a very big issue out of the lack of female characters in the book, and the author was dead serious. Let's see; 19th century whaling ship, out to sea for months at a time.... how many women do you figure there were on such voyages?
