Laptop repair?

Ok, my brother has a Sony Vaio, and he just called me up saying he cracked the screen to it. If there any way to fix it?

Time for a new TFT screen.

Cheapest way is to fit the new TFT yourself, its a little tricky but doable providing you can get hold of one.

I replaced the TFT in a powerbook once, not so hard to do with patience.

It's about a 20 minute repair and these guys are tops in my book for replacement screens.

If the spill was just a splash on your keys you could probably just remove the keyboard.....rinse in some soapy water...rinse again...and let it dry real well.

I had the same thing happen to my desktop keyboard.

i wouldnt be surprised if a new screen cost 80% of the price
of a new laptop
..

My powerjack on the back of my laptop is fuct I was thinking about just buying a new one and saying fuck it but if I can fix it myself all the better.. anyone know what might be wrong..

For some reason the charger wont go all the way in the laptop. then while it is in there halfway I Have to move it to certain angles to get it to charge. and even then it only holds a charge to the laptop for like 30 mins.

any ideas on how to fix this problem?

How do I get the keyboard out?

KCat 12-16-2003 01:14 AM

Laptop repair is ridiculously expensive. I plugged mine into some dirty power in Mexico & it was pretty much a doorstop after that. It wasn't worth the price to replace the motherboard. :(
