Don't quote me on this, but as far as I know you can buy it and have it shipped to you. It's classified as a "poison" in the US, and not any type of controlled substance. It's just not something they sell in liqour stores over here.

Ok I ordered some. It seems that it is shipped from the Czyk republic to you, and the only legal way to receive it is to have it imported. Then you can not redistribute it.

At least thats what they told me.

Just make your own. The recipe is really quite simple, with a bottle 100 proof wodka and some stuff you can get at nearly every health food store, it's a piece of cake :glugglug

Bottle of wodka and half an ounce of dried wormwoord. Put the wormwood in the wodka in a sealed container with as little air as possible, let it soak for 5 days in a dark, cool place.
Filter the wormwood out, and now put in half a tablespoon of angelica root, half a teaspoon of hyssop, a quarter teaspoon of coriander, a pinch of cardamon and a pinch of caraway. Once again, put it in a sealed container and let it sit for another 4 days in a dark and cool place.

Then, get it out, filter it and voila... you have absinthe :glugglug

yeah i believe in the US its ok to own it but not sell it or make. however you CAN make it so long as you steep it instead of distill it. if you distill it, it's illegal.

We've bought from absintheonline.com, eabsinthe.com, and spiritscorner.com (the site isn't in english, but if you click the union jack flag, you can get an english version of the site)

We've had 3-4 different kinds of absinthe shipped here. They have taken from 1 week to 3 months to get here to the states. All have arrived with something other than "absinthe" on the shipping label. Usually it says "spirits", "3 bottle sampler" or "1 bottle".

The quality out there varies widely. There are lots of people selling green piss water on Ebay in older bottles so watch out. My sweetie has his favorites and is becoming quite the expert, but everyone likes something different. You can see the FAQ on feeverte.net for more info.

I bought mine HERE and it took about 3 weeks to a month because it came from Germany. The shipping was the same cost as the bottle, it was about 80 bucks.... but it knocked me on my ass... about 143 proof I think

Hey, I would check this out at erowid. It seems to be pretty good about checking out the absinthe.

I've heard and read that it's not the real deal. But I couldn't tell you based on personal experienece.
