favorite soup?

This flu thing (thankfully almost over) has had me eating more soup than I have in years. I've had just about every chicken variety that I can think of and tonights diner will have me walking on the wild side and having split pea and ham.

What is your faveorite soup? I think mine is a toss up between New England Clam Chowder, Corn Chowder and proper French onion soup with lots of cheese. None of which are good when you have the flu.

Diet? While you have the flu? Uh, ungh..no way. If there is ever a time to break the diet , it's now. :)

4c peeled and cubed baking potatos
1c 3/4 inch sliced celery
1c coarsely chopped onion
2c water
1 Tablespoon salt
1c milk
1c whipping cream
3T butter
1/8 teaspoon pepper

Combine potatos, celery, onion, water and salt in a large dutch over. Simmer covered about 20 minutes or until potatos are tender. Mash mixture to desired consistency ( I like mine mashed a lot). stir in remaining ingredients. Return to heat. Cook, simmering until soup is heated.

Serve with garlic bread. You'll be in heaven.

French onion with a decent amount of garlic and a sprinkling of vodka is excellent for flu!

My fav at the moment is pee and smoked bacon -

I'm more of a stew person, I love this chicken stew, here is the recipe if you want it, you need a slow cooker.

CHICKEN STEW
Amount

Medium potatoes, cut bite sizes 4
Medium carrots, cut bite size 4
Chopped Onion 1 & 1/4 cups

Boneless, skinless, chicken thighs
Cut chicken bite size 1 & 1/4lbs (560g)

Hot water 2 cups
Chicken bouillon powder 1 tbsp.
Salt 1 tsp.
Pepper 1/4 tsp.
Ground thyme 1/4 tsp.
Liquid gravy browner 1/2 tsp.

Layer potatoes, carrot and onion in slow cooker. Lay chicken thighs on top.

Stir next 6 ingredients together in bowl. Pour over chicken. Cover.
Cook on low for 9 to 10 hours or on high for 4.5 to 5 hours.

I love my grandmother's homemade vegetable soup most.

But I also love Italian Wedding Soup (from the Italian Oven, and Campbell's Select), New England Clam Chowder (ONLY Chunky Brand), Brunswick Stew (especially homemade, in fact I'm making some tomorrow), Tomato Soup (ONLY Campbell's or homemade), Tomato Basil (from a local restaurant), my grandmother's homemade cream of potato, and Progresso Chicken.
