health question...
ok last night i went out and had dinner, a pasta dinner with shrimp, shortly after i started to eat it i felt a bit off so i stopped eating it. after i went to my bf's club and then started to feel alot worse, broke out and started to sweat just standing there and started to get dizzy and started to black out. i have never felt something like this before? i think it was the shrimp.. does that sound odd or a reasonable assumption?

I wouldn't think food poisoning would act that fast. Usually it's several hours after you've eaten that you start feeling the effects.
Pregnant? |
Sounds like food poisoning to me... Been there once or twice. :(

Jenn, see a doc ASAP. You've been poisoned. Whether it be salmonela or staph is hard to know since it takes at minimum 2 hours to drop unconscious from it. Does this restaurant you went to serve blowfish? If so there might have been cross contamination. Being allergies is unlikely because you would have had blocked airways and had a hard time breathing. You should see a doc becuase if it is cross contamination or food poisoning it is still in your body damaging your liver and kidneys. |

Several people told me at the time to eat several slices of white bread minus the crust. Its supposed to absorb & help pass the germs thru faster... but given the sources, it could be one of the old Mom's tales. ;-) I did it anyway!! :winkwink:
Certainly can't hurt at any rate! |

Depending on how much you eat, what you ate and how fast your matabolizm is will determine how fast it takes for food poisoning to kick in.. with fish, shrimp, etc.. its alot of water.. it goes through your body fast.. so if it was bad shrimp.. its very possible you got food poisoning.
Now what do you do? throw up, and take pictures! call a lawyer and doctor and act fast! |

You can suddenly develop allergies to anything. It sounds like a classic allergy to something you were eating. My guess would be the shrimp.
|
Most likely the shrimp, and definitely sounds like food poisoning...
|
yeah aj just called and followed up with them, they said at this point they have to get the health department involved.. they offred me a free meal but after that i dont even wanna go near that place
|
i cant help but think about what i heard on the news recently , about people getting mercury poisioning from seafood.. here, its mainly tunafish.. but, couldnt shrimp be responsible too?

Call your doctor, but in MHO, it was too fast and didn't last long enough to have food poisoning. But again - your doctor will be the best person to talk to about this. :)
|
Hope you're feeling better Jenn, and find out what caused it!
jDoG |
It doesn't sound like food poisoning, since the affects appeared so suddenly. SOOO many people are allergic to seafood, and allergies can manifest at any time. That's what it sounds like to me. Of course there's always the possibility of the food being drugged, but allergies sounds like a more likely possibility. Check with a doctor, and I hope you feel better!

You're gonna die Jenn. WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!! :eyecrazy

Shellfish allergies tend to produce those kinds of symptoms. Get it checked out by a doctor. |
You're just hypoglecimic, do what I do and eat some candy bars when I feel that way
