Flu Pandemic

You guys worried about this? I mean, the media hypes lots of shit like this up... I know the flu has been going around but they act like a new genetically mutated flu is going to come about and wipe us all out...

In the US, more people die in car accidents every year than from the flu, yet most of us get into a car every day w/o a thought. :winkwink:

Arousal, it's not going to "wipe us all out...".. thats so god damn dramatic. The WHO estimated anywhere from 260,000 - 620,000 (off the top of my head) people will die over all industrialized nations. Yes, that's a big deal, but when you take in account that most of them will be elderly or advanced Cancer/AIDS patients, the ratio for the rest of us isnt so bleak!

... apparently you took what I said at face value. I was merely trying to point out the media's over-hyping of the flu season and possible new mutated flu, not literally concerned with total human annihilation by the flu.

Several children have died from it in my area recently so ya, its pretty serious.

Got it from my housemate, who I re-infected, who re-infected me, after which I passed it on to him again. If anything, it's mutating like mad :2 cents:

Our house is rather dirty, and any food you eat here most likely has been coughed on several times while laying in the kitchen.

Yeah, it's going to happen. It's just a question of time. What we have now is not a pandemic. This year the flu strain is nastier but it's not "THE ONE".

And the next pandemic will not wipe us all out.

1918 Pandemic = 500,000 americans died (20 millions globally)

36,000 americans die every year from the flu.

Right now it's just media hype.
