Subliminal advertising in Porn ?
Anybody doing this ? I would think that this business would be the perfect place to experiment with it. Theres a lot of differing opinions on whether or not it works- I'd like to find out.
Heres a couple of decent articles- http://www-tech.mit.edu/V110/N7/lsc.07n.html http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a1_187.html |

Wouldn't "subliminal" advertising in porn be kind of...redundant?
|
Hi,
even if it did work, it would be impossible for us to use in videos online because it would be impossible to get it in there for that short of a time as it needs to be to not see it. just does not work with digital video on a normal pc. |

Heheh, yeah... I try to subliminally advertise sex in my porn sites. Secret sex appeal under the hardcore sex...
Actually, good question. I think that maybe some of the goth or horror porn sites may do that kind of thing. There seems to be somekind of undertone to those sites more than other one that I can think of. Of course I couldn't confirm that for you. |

2) In porn, I know for a fact that it works on... perhaps I better keep my mouth shut since I think it's illegal. |
We bid 2 packs of cigarettes for Al Capones autograph! Say hey to the other Federal Inmates for us! :waves: See ya in 10-20! :glugglug

I believe the subliminal advertising myth was disprooved in the 50s when they did some tests and found out it doesn't work.
|
They used to d it in movies back in the 50's, and I think before that. They would slice in a frame or 3 to buy coke. or popcorn..
But they made it illegal, because you were buying something that you really did not want... Wait. That sounds like commercials on TV.. " this is something every family must have" :BangBang: |
its called 'branding'

Vicary's studies were largely forgettable, save for one experiment he conducted at a Ft. Lee, New Jersey movie theater during the summer of 1957. Vicary placed a tachistoscope in the theater's projection booth, and all throughout the playing of the film Picnic, he flashed a couple of different messages on the screen every five seconds. The messages each displayed for only 1/3000th of a second at a time, far below the viewers' threshold of conscious perceptibility. The result of displaying these imperceptible suggestions -- "Drink Coca-Cola" and "Hungry? Eat Popcorn" -- was an amazing 18.1% increase in Coca-Cola sales, and a whopping 57.8% jump in popcorn purchases. Thus was demonstrated the awesome power of "subliminal advertising" to coerce unwary buyers into making purchases they would not otherwise have considered. When he was challenged to repeat the test by the president of the Psychological Corporation, Dr. Henry Link, Vicary's duplication of his original experiment produced no significant increase in popcorn or Coca-Cola sales. Eventually Vicary confessed that he had falsified the data from his first experiments, ......... Source.. |
