Designer work in Hawaii?
One of my good buds asked me to come live with him in Hawaii and as I'm in the middle of a divorce it might be just what the doctor ordered.
I get a decent amount of projects trough my website but I would really like something more stable and regular even an onsite job. I'm basically ready to fly out pretty soon, if you're interested you can check my samples http://www.sexymojo.com/design or email me aloha AT sexymojo DOT com :thumbsup |
Here ya go
http://gofuckyourself.com/showthread...hreadid=208255 You owe me a 5% finders fee if hired. Is Hawaii big enough for TWO talented designers? :Graucho :) |

Yeh Ironhorse, Pick an island, any island except Maui. Your buddy probably lives on Oahu anyhow. You don't wanna upset the natives on Maui. :glugglug |

I hate to break it to you though but I think the islands will get swamped with 'mainlanders' before too long.. |

I've been to Oahu. Except for some parts of Waikiki and Diamond Head, its all run down and densely populated. Plus, you can tell the Natives are just being polite to Haole visitors...beneath the fake smile and the Chaka hand signal is some deep seated animosity. Read Hawaiian history and you'd understand. I don't blame them.
Go to Tahiti or Fiji or Boracay or Buswanga... go where you are welcome. Quote:

Also most of the Mainlanders that move there leave after a year or so when they can't make ends meet as the wages aren't generally higher to match the increased cost of living.

I have this image of Amp and Ironhorse slowly walking toward each other from opposite ends of the island ..spurs jangling with each step, hands on holsters ready to draw.... Amp spits out the butt of his cigar and says "Ironhorse.. this Maui isn't big enough for both of us."

I also met some of the nicest people I have ever met while there. just like anywhere else, some people will judge you on your race, others on yuo as a person. I wouldn't call Oahu densely populated as half of it is mountains with little housing on them. Regarding the history, they killed Captain Cook so we should be even right? Seriously, rights to the land are one thing but the extreme views of Hawaiian Nationalists wanting to kick out all the tourists etc are just not practical. The place would be dead without tourism. Look what happened when the number of Japanese tourists dipped down. The place went into a recession and I don't think an independant Hawaii would solve that. |

Actually Maui is rather drab compared to the other islands. I'd pick someplace else. |
