Here I've been trying to get a hold of my grandmother for the better part of a week.. She raised me she's more like my mother than my grandmother. And I find out she's been in the hospital for a week, and not a single fucking person from my family found a spare moment to call me and tell me what the fuck.. This is like the 5th time this has happened. I have even told them to call collect, I just can't sit around being worried and wondering!

What the hell can I do to make my family realize that I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THESE THINGS WHEN THEY HAPPEN!? Not a week later? What if something happened and I had to fly out and it was my last chance to say goodbye or something? What the fuck is wrong with some people? Yes I'm ranting here, but maybe someone has some ideas on how I can impress on my family JUST how important this is to me? I mean, wouldn't YOU want to know?

I dunno maybe they're jealous of my relationship with her. My mom and uncles were a wild bunch and just didn't foster as close of a relationship with her as I did. I don't know what the fuck! My family and I normally get along but in these situations they're just a bunch of fucking retards!!

I had the same thing happen with me......Lucky I have force powers and could feel disturbance in the force...I'm not joking if anything ever went wrong I would feel it in the air.......

I do this with everything bad that happens. I get sick as shit to my stomach and nervous as hell. What sucks is I don't know exactly what it is when I get the feeling, could be nothing or something huge. I just have to wait and see what bad news I get that day. :(

I'm that way with server problems or routing issues. Any drop in bandwidth usage and for some reason I'm checking at that exact moment.

Do you possibly have one family member that lives near her that you're especially close to? or could develop a relationship with (call a couple of times a week, etc). That person might be better at keeping you up on news.

Weird, people think I'm crazy sometimes because I know who's calling, knocking, etc as soon as they do. I do stuff like that with everything but when something bad happens it really bothers me because I get the same feeling on small and huge things. It could be my host down or somebody in a car wreck and I just don't know until I figure it out. Sucks.

Well I had that same feeling.. so I started phoning hospitals instead of my family.. and sure enough someone with her name was in. She has a common name so I phoned my mother for confirmation, and she said yeah she's in there, but nothing else. I am so furious I just don't know what to do. :(

Yes but unfortunately most of my contacts out there have their own families, and my family are a bunch of useless shits.. there's only my mom, uncles and me. It seems I'm the only one who actually seems to care. I am so pissed off I might just tell them all to shove it and move her out here. At least then I KNOW she's safe and taken care of. For them she's just an inconvenience.

I call her every single day. If she doesn't answer, what the fuck am I supposed to do? If she's not there, it means there's a problem. How the fuck else would I have known she wasn't ok? Fuck off.

I go thru the same thing sometimes....my dad calls me one day and says "oh by the way your mom is in the hospital for surgery on her spine ..she has been paralyzed for the past month and they are going to try and fix it"...WTF! Although they did call me as soon as dad had his heart attack...I just think that no one in my family likes to be the bearer of bad news cause they know i will lose it 3000 miles away and sometime there is nothing i can do about it.

Yeah I feel your pain hon.. I think she will be ok but I really don't like the extra stress of having to worry that if something terrible happens they won't tell me.. It's like a nightmare I have that she will die and nobody will tell me until a week later or something..

I come from the most dysfunctional wacky family in the US. My mom is the only normal one.. everyone else is a fuckin lunatic. But yeah they do the same shit with us. They will say a week later, "uncle Sonny was visiting from Texas, we had a party for him at aunt Lorraine's". Meanwhile we weren't even told he was visiting, much less invited to the party. My family does that shit because they are the most selfish assholes on earth. They don't want to share the attention with us... sheer jealousy. My grandmother is the queen selfish bitch.

There's no way you can get your family to start going out of their way to include you in what's going on... my family used to blame it on us being an hour away... they still did it when we moved 5 minutes away. I feel for you, I know how frustrating and disappointing it is.
