problems with new cccbill afilliate interface?

Has anybody noticed the following fairly problematic issues?

1. Slower than the old interface in both java/html viewer mode.

2. The transaction report opens in a sub-frame, but because the sub-frame is now larger than the parent frame, you have two scrolling frames (parent and child frames) to see all your stats on one screen (sort of a scrollable frame inside another) making navigation very hard?

.nihilist 12-12-2003 05:49 PM

Yeah, it's alot slower but I still like it better than the old one though.

besterman 12-13-2003 09:39 AM

I have to say I am somewhat disappointed with the new interface.

There is a big difference between 'pretty' and 'usable'. The new interface is prettier but there are major usability issues. We studied Graphical UI usability in University and the new interface fails to embody most of those principles - where did their techs go to University or did they even as they don't seem to have a clue!

Scorpion, one of the reasons that the report might take slightly longer to pull and load the data is that rather than loading the stats from just one account as it did previously, if you have several accounts, it loads all of them at the same time.

Keep in mind that we are taking all suggestions for improvement into consideration; we had spent considerable resources creating the new affiliate admin it as a major upgrade and improvement over the old one. I think that we have the same goal in mind; we want this system to be as user-friendly and functional for as many of our client?s affiliates as possible.

frippeno 12-13-2003 10:14 AM

My experience is even worse.

I signed in yesterday and it strongly suggested that I "upgrade" to the new interface. I thought why not, it couldn't be any worse than this one....

Now I cannot even log in. I get ...

Unrecoverable Error
The system is currently in Beta form. You will be notified when it is available.

Gee, thanks a lot.

I have a suggestion. Drop all the graphics and the Java. Useless fluff. Adds absolutely nothing and slows everything down. You have to wonder what people are thinking when they come up with this stuff.

Help stats remote get a damn update put out so our stats show properly in stats remote.

corvette 12-13-2003 11:54 AM

eadweb, there is an option to turn of the java and use straight html, not sure if you were aware of that...

frippeno, if it is still not working for you, email me your account # and i will make sure that it gets forwarded to the right people to take care of

Exactly.. Don't need the graphics and the Java, I just want to see my numbers.

Now you see most of the paysites putting all kinds of the graphics and the Java in there webmasters area. I'm not impressed at all.

Ok, I'm having trouble trying to find the referring URLS for sales each day. Also is there somewhere where I can check all active rebills throughout all my merged accounts?

it should list where you can see the referring URL in the email that you had received regarding the new affiliate admin. I would tell you specifically where you can find that info, but I don?t have a copy of that email here?.had email issues a few days ago

jimmyf 12-13-2003 12:26 PM

when you set the date range say for clicks and then go to say transactions it goes back to a default and the default is the day before.
so if you want to check:

Check Amounts Clicks Conversions Referred Affiliates Transactions

you have change it every time

ill pass your suggestion on to save the date range per session, jimmy

I think the major usability issues follow under the following general categories. These are the areas to re-evaluate and improve upon

1. GRAPHICS ( intensiveness and speed of viewer technology)

2. FRAME LAYOUT (By having the left hand panel for date-range you reduce the area available for the reports which tend to run horizontally. It is better to put them at top or bottom so a maximized browser has full view at-a-glance of the report data which is the #1 most important part. The rule of thumb is the least amount of scrolling)

3. COMMON TASKS (the most common reports, user actions, and default settings need to be accessed the fastest so it makes sense to have them appear as quickly and with as few clicks as possible by having direct links to them on the menu bars)

4. REPORT DATA (the most commonly viewed data needs to be accentuated and placed in the right spots on the report to make it more readable. It's very slow to view many accounts because there is so much data on the screen and not color-coded somehow)

for referring urls: > Transactions
Check the box on the right below the date range "Breakdown by URL's" option

pamphage 12-13-2003 01:33 PM

well today i like cuz it shows a lot of sign ups. tomorrow i might not be so generous.

and even in html i find it to be a bit clunky.

and im bummed it doesnt work with statsremote yet

jpoker 12-13-2003 01:57 PM

It is slower to initially load the data, but because of the extra
functionality, i can get the information i'm looking for
more quickly now, so overall i'm very pleased.
As already suggested, some coordination with statsremote
would be good when making changes to the stats.

FUCK CCbill, they could my you know what, they are not anymore good for us webmaster affiliates, they cant track shit... I bet they owe me 1000's of dollars with all the sign ups I never got.

besterman 12-14-2003 10:42 AM

I think ccbill is the top company for affiliates wanting to make money, very stable. Nothing is wrong with ccbill, you can even hard code referral id's into the URL so it's one of the most flexible.

My only concern is that the usability issues of the new affiliate interface need quite a bit more work. You really need to sit down and have questionnaires with webmasters and look at it from a 'webmaster usage' point of view instead of just a 'technology/features' point of view. If you do this, you will find that webmasters have to make too many clicks for most common features and the data has some readability issues.

My opinion is they probably should have not put the option to convert at this time. I converted thinking it was no big thing, but the change was quite dramatic!
