Why pay less for console-free signups?
 

Why do some affiliate programs pay less for signups generated thorugh 'console free' tours? Seems to me that a signup is a signup, consoles just effect how that signup is generated, not how much it's worth.

What am I missing here?

Because they actually have a better chance of making a profit from the consoles :thumbsup

I understand that, but it still doesn't lessen the value of the signup to them. There must be a better reason ... any affiliate program owners who do this have another explanation?

missing that most of those consoles are upsells to other sites, so theyre losing $ by not popping them (you arent getting credit on the pops), therefore the discounted payouts

That and they shave you real nice and hard on the popups so they don't like it when you don't use them.

PPS sponsors can't cover their payouts on a single one month signup in most cases. You have to count on retention, upsells, and consoles to make even out the equation. Eliminating one of those lowers the payout.
