MLM Marketing...

is it illegal?

For example our three teir 15% webmaster referral program.

if you refer someone and make 15% of their monthly $

then they refer someone, then that person refers someone.

Is that MLM or is it different because its a referral program and not actual MLM selling even though you are making 15% from all three downline levels?

Seems to me like the person to do the initial referring makes the most money from these types of programs is that right or not?

No, you don't have to pay to join a webmaster program. If a person you refer is not a productive product seller you get nothing, unlike illegal MLM schemes.

Correct, I should have clarified that in my post but it seemed like overkill.

Stud Money 12-12-2003 12:18 AM

MLM stops at a certain level of deepness.

Pyramid goes forever.

DatingGold 12-12-2003 01:14 AM

MLM is legal because you dont charge people a fee to get involved.. Pyramids are illegal because at some point it has to come to an end and the people at the bottom get burned for alot of money.

at first I thought you were just trying to spam you referral program..

HeadPimp 12-12-2003 01:44 AM

I concur, pyramid schemes are illegal. MLM is really just affiliate sales. I am starting to promote mainstream MLM now, the banner in my signature is one that I am really liking....

If done right, these definitely work. Amway is a multibillion dollar example of this theory in practice.

I did MLM for a while with cognigen. It works well if you can keep your downline in check.
