Bulk Mail vs Spam

Is there a difference? Or do spammers just call it bulk mailing in order to ease their conscience for being such pricks?

If a person opted in...its not spam. So if you bulk optin, thats not spam. IF you bulk people that didn't opt in or your bought a dubious list and can't prove ownership, that's spam.

Also, the CAN SPAM act has meaning attached to HOW you bulk. If you bulk using fake headers or proxies to throw off the real source of your email, then that is SPAM as well.

an idea of a bulk mailer...

bullk mailers also refer to mailing your past members.. who on the terms page agreed to accept email marketing from the sponsor... so if you are a paid customer to a site.. you can now be sent email from that company via the terms agreed to.. when joining.. :2 cents:

I'd call that mass-mailing, or even a newsletter depending on the frequency/content.

i have an ezine 4free program im building on, i have one site ready and gathering optins and im working on more niches, but are you stating that its illegal if i dont send out using my contact info and source email?

i noticed all 4free programs send out from fake names ect, but are you covered by your terms?

if it is becoming illegal, will server companies start banning sites like this?

if you proxy mailer, you spam

period,no serious optin list owner will use proxies

stocktrader23 12-11-2003 09:34 PM

So what's everyone's opinion on spamming interest groups? I mean, I go look for Paizley Adams and the group has this spam in it for Webcams. Go figure.

Cheers :glugglug

psyko514 ~ As an anti I assume you dislike all spam. What about interests groups, do they fall under the same category as bulk mail?

I don't dislike all spam. I dislike the people who do it. They all seem to have this "holier than thou" or "i'm untouchable" attitude.

As for interest groups, I'm assuming you mean things like Yahoo! Groups? I don't think they fall into the same category because you opt-in to them. First, you gotta sign up for whoever is hosting the group, then you have to sign up for the group itself.

i do state in my terms that i can send them mailouts and even sell the contact, they have also double opt in. I have not decided what to do in regards to mailing yet, maybe a mailing list once a week from myself with my upsells in there would probably work best.

I figured that would be your stance on it. But do you really think Paizly Adams followers are looking for free webcams? :1orglaugh

Why 12-11-2003 10:00 PM

the united states government has recognized bulk mailing as a legitimate way for one to advertise thier business to the internet community, given that certain simple rules are followed.

DEAL WITH IT!

i think if your mailing out your own opt in lists and within reason i think you wouldnt get any complaints, i think its when your buying lists that your asking for trouble, as you dont know where there from or even if they have adult interest
