What is a metrosexual?
Enlighten me please
|
|
Someone having sex on metronorth?
|
The typical metrosexual is a young man with money to spend, living in or within easy reach of a metropolis ? because that's where all the best shops, clubs, gyms and hairdressers are. He might be officially gay, straight or bisexual, but this is utterly immaterial because he has clearly taken himself as his own love object and pleasure as his sexual preference. Particular professions, such as modeling, waiting tables, media, pop music and, nowadays, sport, seem to attract them but, truth be told, like male vanity products and herpes, they're pretty much everywhere.
Some similarities overlap with guidos, but the mere mention of the word around a guido would cause violence to be invoked. |
straight guy who pampers himself too much.

Are you hitting on me?

Supposedly it's a straight guy who embraces the gay culture. Who knows. Another bull shit "category" to place people in.

Haha, about a month ago my girlfriend started teasing me and telling me I was definitely NOT a metrosexual.
I think it just means a guy with fashion sense. Maybe a little _too much_ fashion sense if you get my drift. SpaceAce |
The concept, if not the term, of metrosexual has been around for a while. Back in the 1700s these types of guys were called "dandies" The lead guy in "Dangerous Liasions" is a prime example of this.

Found somewhere on the 'net:
Rise of the Metrosexual: A metrosexual is a straight, urban male who is eager to embrace and even show off his feminine side, especially when it comes to expensive haircuts, designer suits, and $40 face cream. And thanks to a certain type of male celebrity (read: David Beckham, Justin Timberlake, and Ben Affleck), it's now cool for a man to own 43 pairs of Bruno Magli shoes, wear moisturizer, and paint his nails. He stops at the Clinique counter and purchases products--for himself. But unlike years past, he can do all this and still be considered manly. THAT is what the metrosexual revolution is all about. Didn't mention tea drinking. :winkwink: |
He's the MAN - as Anthrax would say :BangBang:

I'm pretty close to the meterosexual...I wear brand name clothes, work out, drive a decent car, use cologne and care about my appearance.
On the other hand, I do not moisturize, love anal sex, wear shiney shirts, get manicures or spend hours in the bathroom preening my hair. I'm not sure where I fit in, but I think this term was derived by fat slobs who were mad because their girlfriends left them for men with a decent fashion sense, and who actually care about their appearance. |

I used to work at a bar for a guy that has been calling himself that for over a year. I did disagree with some of the more fem stuff that he would do, but that guy pulled more ridiculously hot pussy tha any person I have ever run across. I wouldn't do it myself, but I can see why others would. I personally do it by being the gruff tattooed bouncer (and somehow that works wonders too!)

The "gruff tatooed bouncer" can, IMO, be a "metrosexual" as well, if he tends to his skin care, bathes regularly, and knows how to order in a better restaurant. But it's entirely possible I'm missing the whole point. Once upon a time I thought "Politically Correct" was just a stupid term for "polite"... |
