How long can you last on the treadmill?

Decided that I will get a six pack by march.

So im upping the cardio now (yes upping is a word, i use it lol)

Today I did 80mins straight at 4.5miles per hour.

My goal is 120mins.

Juicy D. Links 12-10-2003 09:03 PM

I never found a good treadmill with a ashtray built it:(

SleazyDream 12-10-2003 09:03 PM

alight alight I'll get on my elipse machine and be back when i get tired

SleazyDream 12-10-2003 09:03 PM

ok - i'm back

Spunky 12-10-2003 09:04 PM

5 minutes and my beer starts getting warm :glugglug

Pornwolf 12-10-2003 09:05 PM

I don't get it, why jog on a treadmill when you can jog outside and see things while you do it. Maybe you can meet some fitness bitches while you do it?!?

Furious_Male 12-10-2003 09:05 PM

I can go untill I get bored. Thats the problem with the treadmill. When I first got it I was running forever on it. 4.5 mph is a nice pace to just go for a long time. As the weeks wore on I got sick of the long runs so I make calorie goals. And use heavy incline with a shorter run etc. Or blast out a couple of miles at 6-7 MPH.

I still hit it 3-4xs a week but I vary the routein so I dont get burned out.

Luc 12-10-2003 09:08 PM

45 minutes at 7.0.

when i get off i die and spend the rest of the day on my comfy
office chair.

Sifu 12-10-2003 09:09 PM

60 mins. at 9.5 with a 5.5 incline

cronos 12-10-2003 09:10 PM

80 min is good. The clue is to do it every fucking day.

yeah really, plus you actually go the right distance and get fresh air. the only problem is that its bad on your knees. when i jog i usually go to the school and go on the rubberish track. i would use a elipse machine before treadmill to save your knees.

if you're telling the truth it seems like that would almost be dangerous on a treadmill to go that fast.

Za Ha 12-10-2003 10:13 PM

9.5 is REALLY fast, the highest i go is bout 8

Martin 12-10-2003 10:17 PM

10 Minutes on 8 and for the last minute I run at 10. 3 times a week..

Ic3m4nZ 12-10-2003 10:23 PM

I can stay hours on the treadmill , I do at least 15 hours for bodybuilding and cardio per week since 2 years and something.

I started bodybuilding just go get a sixpack 2 years ago it took like 5 months for me to get a good one.

Good luck to get your sixpack never give up :thumbsup

Bassab 12-10-2003 10:33 PM

I dont need cardio. I have a fast metabolism that permits to eat anything and still get any gym result I want. I need one month of 10mins of abs every workout and I'll get a perfect 6pac. I feel bad for all the fatsos out there:1orglaugh

chowda 12-11-2003 10:22 PM

30minutes at a high intensity heart rate.

B Sandwich 12-12-2003 04:59 PM

about 15 minutes on HIIT

30 minutes if I pushed myself to the point where I thought every muscle in my body was on fire.

Pornwolf 12-12-2003 05:18 PM

I can stay on until I get hungry.

Speaking for myself, when you live in Ohio, it gets pretty fucking cold. Nothing like spending time on the 'mill with the tv on and hubby to run and get me water and change the channel :)

Pornwolf 12-12-2003 05:48 PM

When you live in extreme conditions that makes sense... in the winter at least.

Peaches 12-12-2003 07:53 PM

I get bored walking outside. I have trails on my mountains and I walk on them for enjoyment, but to do it every day would be boring as hell. :(

With the treadmill, I can watch a DVD. That's actually where I watch most of my DVD's these days. :)

Where I live, it is -40 degree weather right now. Luckily I live in a highrise central to everything. the furthest i walk outside is accross the street from fear of frostbite. If I didnt use the gym in my apartment I would be a fatty fatty fat fat. Even if I COULD walk outside I dont think i would... there are too many shitty drivers and menacing drunks prowling the streets around here.
Its much warmer and safer to stay indoors and have the hot tub close at hand. :1orglaugh

B Sandwich 12-12-2003 09:10 PM

good post!

Scootermuze 12-12-2003 10:31 PM

A guy that I grew up with from about grade 3-12 .. lost contact for about 20 years... got back in touch... yada yada..

He was feeling kind of blah for no reason... went to the Dr...
They put him on a treadmill... He did as they said, then out of nowhere he collapses..

Stone cold dead from a massive heart attack..

Had he not done it... nobody will ever know I guess...

One of those, "what if" things..

Elli 12-12-2003 10:44 PM

I used to do the elliptical thing, but I've been using the treadmill to get the better all body workout. I was up to 5k (3.12 miles) at 6.0mph with a few 1 minute breaks until my heart rate dropped a bit, which took me to about 32:56.. roughly. :)

Then I ran too many days in a row and hurt my shins. They still hurt, but today I ran a mile at 6.0 and then did the bike for 6 miles, so I think it's getting better.

B Sandwich 12-13-2003 01:03 PM

not a bad job! I remember when I first joined swoleboard, I could only run for 5 minutes. now with the help I learned from there, I can do 15!!

I get dizzy as hell when I get off after 15 mins. Like stumbling and shit. How do you do it?

Furious_Female 12-13-2003 02:17 PM

45-60 minutes for me.

My cousin was at my house last night, she's 16... she didn't realize how fast it can go... She put it on 7MPH and fell off :uhoh Luckily she only hurt her wrist a little.

PerfectionGirls 12-13-2003 02:21 PM

It depends on if I am running or sleeping. :Graucho

If you are doing cardio for longer than 20-25 minutes (and not lifting on the same day), you are WASTING YOUR TIME.

20 minutes of HIIT will do what 60 minutes of cardio does and also give you an afterburn effect.

Read about it here: http://www.musclemedia.com/training/hiit.asp

Also, remember that abs are made in the kitchen, not at the gym.

Eat healthy.

dnsmonster 12-13-2003 02:27 PM

I am training for a marathon and I can run on a treadmill longer than it can take. The heavy duty industrial treadmills in my gym are programmed to power off after 3 hours of continuous use. Well, I've made them power off :-)

Show me ONE fat marathon runner and I will agree with you.

reynold 12-14-2003 12:41 AM

Nice. 2 hours on a treadmill. On Metabolife, I can last 4 hours on a mill. Without metabolife, maybe 1 hour.
