Suggest charities for an Xmas donation / Please donate this Xmas
Hey guys.
Last year some of the ARS WM's ran a small collection to give to those less fortunate than I venture we all are.. I've decided to kick-start another for this year - please suggest some charities that you consider worthy. If you've got an ARS account, visit http://stats.adrevservice.com/publis...ic.php?t=14278 to watch the official word. I'll start it off by pledging to donate $100US to whatever is decided. I'm nowhere near a big fish, but I think we could all dig deep and make a difference to those less fortunate than us. |
Every year we make our kids (some are grown with family) go out and buy toys for kids. We than decide which family to give it to. The night before christmas we lay the gifts in front of their door.
There are so many needy families out there who well deserve it, we don't donate money to any charities. We do the local stuff. There are so many families out there whose kids don't have anything. This year we decided on a single mom with 2 kids. She has been working 2 jobs and between paying for a sitter and paying bills she has zero left. She gets food stamps but thats it. There is no money for her kids for xmas. The kids are 10 and 12 a boy and girl, we did our shopping ;-)) |

I'm looknig to do some volunteer stuff forthe Salvos in xmas eve or xmas day. Anything I can do can help. With the money, sure, it's not local, but it's still a difference. To some of the big players here 100$ is nothing, and so easy to part with, so that's also helping :) I'd be really excited to see if we couldkick something off this year :D |
I am ok with Toys for Tots and the local animal shelter. Both are subject to the whims and poor decisions of other people and can do little to change their own situation.

There are a couple of charity suggestions posted in the ARS thread linked above. Thanks everyone.

how about Angels for Christmas?
you can donate food to local shelters. also many churches feed the homeless and take food donations. some of our largest shelters here take contributions - my mom contributes to one that takes care of women and children as well as homeless men. |

So who's going to donate.. All I can say is imagine how bad you'd feel if you were parents but couldnt afford regular food let alone christmas presents for your kids, or if you didn't have family at all to share these times with. I know i'll be with my family and friends, so it's the least I can do |
