how is it "seriously" injured if its not life threatening. i mean he got bashed up pretty good. but seriously injured makes me think of a serious injury, something that might actually be life threatening.

You break your finger. You are not seriously inuured. You will not be hampered by this for the rest of your life. Fuck you won't even be in that much pain..

You break your ribs, colar bone and whatever else he has broken. You are in a serious amount of pain. Might not be life threatening but he will be pretty fucked up for a while.
