Glasses/Contact wearers (both) - Question.
Right now I wear contacts, and I find myself squinting at the monitor a lot not even for any particular reason... cause I can see it just fine, I guess its just the focusing. I sit really close to a 21" monitor (mmm radiation) ... so my question to the glasses wearers do you find yourself squinting too?
I plan on getting a new pair of glasses just for this reason because a lot of times my contacts dry out and stuff and it makes things blurry... but i wonder if that'll help the squint problem. |
i love my contacts.. my glasses are not comfortable at all...
contacts are like crystal clear vision.. with glasses it seems like everything has a border around it.. and everything out of the corner of my eye kinda bends when i move my head.. :thumbsup |

I use both
but my eyes feel better after a day with the glasses. I've never had rewetting drops that worked real good, I usually keep a small bottle of saline and squirt that right in there to wet those contacts again |
Are your contacts well fitted? I had that problem some years ago and found out it was because my right eye need a more curved lens than my left.

I got contacts last year .. and they were okay for everything but staring at the computer .. my eyes would dry out and I just couldnt focus very well .. anyways I'm back to glasses and havent had a problem with focusing at all. I save the contacts for going out and stuff like that .. but the glasses are just easier for me to work with. :2 cents:

I use both. Mostly glasses for work though.
I use disposable type contact which helps a lot. My eyes feel great longer in a fresh pair. My eyedoctor told me to not wear anything while at the monitor. I'm can see the monitor fine, I just won't usually go without either because I can't see anything in the room then. |
I wear glasses only. I am running away from contacts, plus I have a special coating on my glasses (nonglare and tinted) you can get that coating from the Optometrist. They are awesome the only drawback on those is they are really touchy touchy and not adviced if youre rough on your glasses.
However I love them - You can get the non glare in a blueish or geenish tint and they will save your eyes. Designed definitly for computer users |
Fuck Glasses.
Fuck Contacts. I'm done. Its over, no more. I'm getting Lasik tomorrow. Yeah, Im scared shitless, but it will be so nice once its all said and done. |
i usually wear my contacts to work with. but if i am fatigued at all (staying up late, out tying on one, etc) then i seem to have more eye strain working with them in, so use my glasses that day. the strain is obviously my eyes, not the computer...

Get Lasik.
I got Lasik about 5 years ago. Best thing I ever did. |
l-a-s-i-k
only way to go. i've worn glasses since i was 8 (now 29) had lasik done last year went from over 20/400 to 20/20 in both eyes. you don't know how nice it is to wake up and actually be able to see the alarm clock. if you can afford it do it. don't be scared. it's worth it. |

Also, I know with my contacts, if they start to get dirty my eyes become ultra-sensitive to light which causes me to squint watching TV or monitor and sometimes even makes my eyes water... this may have something to do with it too, they might be a little dirty, in which case it would effect your ability to see clearly |

I have been wearing contacts and glasses since I was 15 years old. When this dryness happens, take the contacts out for the day and put on your glasses. This is a chronic problem for me. As I get older, my eyes get drier. I can only wear a pair of contacts for about 8 hours before I have to either put in a freshly soaked pair or put my glasses on. I love my contacts and wouldn't trade them for anything. I also love my glasses. |
you may have developed astigmatism (sp?)
its some weird thing where the light reflects and something funky happens and you can see better when you squint. The level that i have is not strong enough to warrant me getting really expensive contacts (like $100 each) but it can be fixed easier with my glasses. Go get another exam ....or get Lasik. I am too chicken to get that done though :) |

I have both contacts and glasses, and I wear my glasses way more than I do the contacts. I cannot work in front of my monitor wearing my contacts. My eyes get very dry, and and I can't see clearly. I bought the contacts mostly because I play volleyball, and participate in other physical activities. But if I'm not going out, or not playing any sports, I wear my glasses. |
