What would you do if your own affiliate program was accused of shaving / fraud?

To bring up the most recent case of this I would have to bring up PIBCash and the allegations against them of shaving.

The screenshot looks real, of course a point that HTML code can simply be modified to look however and make a company look as if it is shaving.

What would you do if the company you've built fom the ground up was just publically (and convincingly) was accused of fraud?

My own feelings is I'd be on the phone with lawyers and planning damage contol immediately, that is if I was innocent. Knowing that I would be, I would then proceed with nice letters from my lawyer to the accuser and immediately be releasing any and all information and/or access to statistics/figures to certain neutrally trusted individuals in the industry.

Do you think a program could recover from such a legitimate looking claim?

What's even stopping a company from "fixing" their statistics to seem proper after-the-fact if they were indeed conducting fraud?

Just a little blurp and thoughts I had.

Cheers,
Matt

I would sell all the webmaster info to Acacia and then to some spammers and then I'd close up shop and disappear. I might surf the boards for a few days denying it but that would be just for show.

within literally minutes of the screen shot breaking you would have to allow several well regarded people into your stats system to have a look.

The fact they have not made a public announement on GFY discrediting this fraud makes them seem very guilty.

They need to do some serious damage control. And should do a proper public annocentment. If they have and i've missed it could someone post a link.

Why bother? In 3 days nobody will even remember this.

There again you could have 2 different kinds of user Id, one that shows the shaving and one that looks normal for your lower employees.

Then again you could have an emergency "shaving alarm" username where shaved stats don't show just for that purpose.

Face it anyone willing to steal from others aren't always stupid and most of them are probably ready for that contingency

Umm this is GFY remember, Pibcash will remain a common shaving joke and every board and everyone will know it. Pibcash wants to regain the trust of its clients cause "proven" shaving is about as bad as it gets.

They need to clear it up or go start up a new affilate program asap cause there current one isn't going to grow much after this.
