Pennywize? "Stop that hacker" ??

Which Hacker prevention/ password sharing prevention is the best and why? We where using "botbuster" www.botbuster.com but their script crashed our servers and had to be removed. Plus all emails over the last month for support have gone unanswered.

We have bought a copy or "stop that hacker" http://www.stopthathacker.com and are trying to install it, but are also looking for other ways to help. I have been told that pennywize is so-so if true, why? We currently use one of thier products, trafficwize which seems ok, has some good stats and was easy to install but hate paying a monthly fee for something. would rather just buy and own a local script, and have been looking for a server solution for bandwidth control but have found no others.

Any comments or Ideas? And yes, I have done GFY searchs on this (which is how I found out about "Stop that hacker" but no real answers to the questions.

Thanks guys!

Buy a copy of Iprotect. It's compiles into Apache as a mod and it's all the protection you need.

Then you must not have the thresholds configured properly. Do some research or talk to your host if you don't do your own admin work. It most certainly has fixed and blocked any hackers from my boxes.

Possiable, Reliablehosting does 98% of the server support so I'll have to ask them, they are really pushing the pennywize also...

perhaps instead of buying all programs under the sun, you should hire a good programmer who can consult you by evaluating what you have and possibly making you a custom solution that will work better than the purchased scripts.

or if you want to go all out and spend some money and really block all password hackers along with other distributed attacks on your site, ww.arces.net sells a hardware that does it really nicely.
