PIB cash question

according to your board - you say that a former employee added a columb to the stats on the html page....thus the fake shave

ok - interesting - that means that some of the data IS real... wow.

my question is - why would an employee that left be SOOOOO mad at you to do this to you, and are you suing that person as this seems to have really hurt you.

what happened to that employee that triggered this?

very good question

I also wonder how many "disgruntled" emplyees they have had since Sept.? If it is only 1, then I would have to say the screenshot is real.

Well, wouldnt they have to disclose everything to start a case?

I wonder how the courts decide what is a true copy and a false copy of stats?

iwantchixx 12-08-2003 10:36 PM

The first post makes sense with something, how could all claims be a lie on part of jimmy, if rconn claims only one column has been added. More than one column shows proof of shaves

shermo 12-08-2003 10:39 PM

The shave column has to be correct, considering all of the other colums stats match the shave. How will they explain this?

I think this is just a case of a sponser that got a little too greedy...and they are going to end up paying for it in the end. :2 cents:

JSA Matt 12-08-2003 10:39 PM

I wonder if this person that took the screenshots also has a copy of the source code? It's a little harder to fake than html : ))

I know of one person who was fired and still owed money by PIB.

How many more are there?

So have we seen a lawsuit filed yet? I haven't heard of one....

- AFN - 12-28-2003 07:13 PM

In the US they can hit the employee for

DEFAMATION -- normally this is a hard case to prove. However, given the malicious intent of the ex employee to harm PIB's relationship with its affiliates, this element seems to be satisfied.

TORTIOUS INTERFERENCE WITH CONTRACT -- This is the most damaging lawsuit, financially, they can bring against the ex employee. This provides that if a person sabotages a business relationship, the damaged parties can sue that person.

To answer Sleazy's questions, employees get pissed all the time and want to get back at the employer. It happens. Don't be surprised. However, it did take balls to do it this way.

Not the first time I've heard that line. How many tomorrows before the litagation is filled??

MetaformX 12-28-2003 07:39 PM

you don't expect them to just come clean, do you? ofcourse they will make up a story about irritated employee, blah blah

makefuckingmoney 12-28-2003 07:41 PM

I think there is a second shooter in the grassy knoll..

pussyluver 12-28-2003 07:46 PM

I have an open mind about it though, Not going to just drop PIB casue of all the talk here. I wasn't pushing 'em hard to begin with.

Will be interesting to see what happens. I do believe they were hurt by it. Does it affect my decision on which sponsor to put on the next batch of galleries? It might.

So they sue, the ex-employee. What's to gain? Does she or he even have enough $ for the court battle. Where was an injunction to stop them from releasing company data or made up info. Or was there one?

If the person you sue doesn't have anything, all you're left with is a judgement. A piece of paper. That may go nowhere depending on the state. (I'm not an attorney).

chowda 12-28-2003 07:48 PM

the real question is, do ppl still promote them?

Just because the story has blown over doesn't mean that people will feel at ease going back to doing business with them. Remember, there's no smoke without fire and most people tend to remember this when it comes to business.

J.R. 12-28-2003 09:49 PM

I think the stats were true.. I have my reasons for
this and it makes sense to me

chodadog 12-28-2003 10:23 PM

What gets me about the whole thing, and worries me, is how blindly people just accepted the screenshots as fact and proof. I'm not saying they weren't real. I don't know that. But any disgruntled employee, at any affiliate program, could save the html, add a couple of columns, and take a screenshot.

Of course it's going to look real, because it hasn't been photoshopped, and the statistics that are shown will obviously be real. And a lot of people used that as <i>proof</i>. Which it quite clearly is not.

The way PIBCash handled it didn't exactly make me feel confident in their innocence, and that's the only opinion i have. I wouldn't use 'em.

struggle7 12-28-2003 10:36 PM

I don't use them but I keep a personal blacklist of cheats to avoid in the future- Whether they are sponsors, traders, content providers or whatever. That being said, PIB is on mine at the moment.

Why?

1. Disgruntled ex-employees distributing personal information of webmasters is a strike against you no matter how you toss the dice. [speaks badly of management]

2. Unprofessional handling of the situation by management. (see posts here) [speaks badly of management]

3. Claimed removal of posts on company board by people asking questions and referencing the matter. [what's to hide?]

4. Webmaster reports that past stats were taken offline nearly immediately following the release of the screenshots to the public.
[what's to hide or why no explanation for this?]

5. The above lead me to err on the side of the screenshots containing much mroe truth than fiction.
[makes sense to me?]

Now if someone addresses the above to my satisfaction - or shows me my errors - then that might change. But I doubt that will happen. Everyone else can do what they please though.

We are owed a few thousand by PIB and are still promoting them on a smaller scale. I have been personally assured by Tom that the cheques are on the way and we will get paid in full.
